Dollar Shave Club sold to Unilever for $1B
I don't use the service, but I know some of you do and like what it offers for the price. I doubt this is overall good news for you guys in the long term.

Tried it once. The handle and blade broke into pieces mid shave, cut me up.
Suck it up and get the Fusion ya cheapskates.

I always found them to provide inferior equipment.
I don't go crazy with straight razors (although I own a few I haven't used in awhile), but I do typically use a DE razor and Feather blades (the sharpest blades out there, so they say)

Yeah, I don't go cheap on sharp metal I plan to press against my face and neck.

I was suprised that Unilever hasn't been in the razor business until this acquisition.
Got to hand it to Dubin who came up with the idea while working for SI, found backers, started the company in 2011 and used youtube for his initial ad campaign.
If he retained 10% of the company he'll be getting $100M from the sale and continue to collect a salary and perks as president.

Skip that stuff. I realize they're cheap but over the long hail it's not that cheap.
You may already know far than I will ever know about this but if you don't I'll share my experience, which I do have some.
I did this because those disposables kept giving me razor burns and stuff.
I went and bought a DE razor, nothing special. I even screwed up and bought a "travel" one.... but it ended up being cool because all the guys that had "regular" sized ones wish they had one that small (this conversation sounds pretty gay.... nttawwt)
Anyways. Get a DE razor, don't go super cheap, but you don't need to go crazy. Mid range. and I would suggest getting a razor sample pack. I found razors I like and ones I don't like. I ended up choosing Feathers.... and most people do. They are the highest quality you can get, which is whatever. Doesn't mean that much. Some people don't like them because they are TOO sharp. It's not a problem for me and it's not even a cutting yourself problem. But just how it cuts across the hair.
Some prefer Merkurs (I hate the shit out of those blades, others love em). Feathers are my favorite, hands down. But I also like Lord Platinum blades and also Wilkinson, to a lower degree. But this is all from sample packs. I'd never buy any other blade than Feather just because that works for me and..... why try another? I've used Lords when I ran out of Feathers, and they worked great.... but after I restocked the Lords just sit there until the next time I run out of Feather blades.

And there it is again..... too long winded.
I don't know what to do, guys. Seriously. I just want to keep giving information because I feel it's helpful. I don't know how to be more succinct. I guess I could have said "Buy Feather blades" and left it at that. But unless you just trust people like that without getting a sense they've tried stuff,... it just seems weird.

I've always heard that Harry's is better. I've tried neither. Fuck mergers and acquisitions.

I'd have a difficult time buying razor blades and shaving supplies from a guy named Harry. It suggests his products don't work.

What is Harry's, Floyd? Is it a blade brand or DE brand?

Pretty much the same business model as Dollar Shave, except maybe for Harry's owning their own blade factory in Germany.
And tGreenway, I actually think Harry got into the busines because he's so freakin hairy.

Bought a Dorco razor from amazon after reading a similar thread on tRCMB. Apparently they make the razors for of these companies or some shit... I don't remember. Working good for me though.

Maybe the brand names just weren't doing the job with his manscaping needs.

I "shave" once a week just to clean up around my beard. I get an eight pack in my stocking from Santa and that will last all year if not longer.

Post pics of your skin after a shave x. Like close up high def. If it looks good I'll stop using the mach 3. It's been great for me.

Seems like a setup. You can check it out on youtube, though. Using more than one blade irritates your skin.
One pass with one blade. You're fucking your skin up passing 3 times every time. And don't even tell me you're usually barbosol. At least use cream, not some fucking foam shit.

The closest shave is a straight razor. I use one for special events, but they take practice and getting used to. I wasn't happy with my straight razor shaves for over a year.

Lol. A setup. I never have irritated skin, I see no reason to change unless you're like baby smooth. That's all I'm saying.

The absurd quest to make the “best” razor - - - The $3.5 billion shaving industry is secretive and litigious — and disrupting itself silly.

I truly don't remember the last time I shaved. It's probably been 20+ years.
even when I just trim up whatever facial hair configuration I have at the time, my wife kinda freaks out and says I look like a little kid.

I don't need the "best", just one that doesn't make we want to slit my wrists over the prices.
(I use Harry's from Target when not using my Norelco)
