I don’t think it’s gross necessarily it just kinda sucks. Doesn’t add much.

I like mine with an Alfredo sauce, and if don’t have time to whip that up, a strong pour of warm thousand island dressing is pretty good, too.

Alfredo gets stuck in the hipster beard... and he has to wash it down with a mini-microbrew delivered in a ladle by a tall swedish child.

No need to describe any Swede as tall; it’s a given. Most Swedish babies are born nearly six feet tall. The birth can take days and it’s quite painful and loud.

I put ketchup on the side and salt on the fries. Sometimes I'll go for the malt vinegar.

I’ll be heading up to the UP in a few weeks. Can’t wait to wrap my hands around a pizza pasty with extra spaghetti sauce.

Plain if it's great pasty. Will add slivers of cold butter to less than great pasty, which is pretty much any pasty made south of the Bridge.Cameron wrote:I can't remember, are you a ketchup guy or a plain guy? If I’m up in the U.P. eating a pasty and I ask for some ketchup are they going to judge me? Would that be an insult to the chef?

Ketchup is an odd condiment IMO. I don't get the love many seem to have for the overly sugary tomato sauce.steveschneider wrote:The Pantry wrote:Plain if it's great pasty. Will add slivers of cold butter to less than great pasty, which is pretty much any pasty made south of the Bridge.

Most UP pasty places will have ketchup and/or gravy available. Ask for either and they'll know you're a troll.

I mean I’m not a huge ketchup guy. I never put ketchup on eggs and find it gross. Hot sauce on eggs now that’s a different story. Never had a problem with ketchup on fries or pasty’s.

Fine. Be that way. I don't doubt your word that Au Train is great. But, you'll never know for sure which is better until you try one from Toni's. Yeah, it's a bit of a drive. Make a day of it in the Keweenaw. Hit McLain SP or take a ride up Brockway Mountain Drive to Copper Harbor.Motown Spartan wrote:Just had the best pasty from Au Train Grocery. Suck it Pantry!
Thanks. You just decided dinner for me. Still have a few Lawry's in the freezer.
Does Au Train ship?

Ex-SIL and I still talk few times a year to catch up. She calls when she wants advice on a new phone, TV, appliance, etc. More than happy to help her out.
She was in my area today and stopped by with a token of appreciation. The Salvation Army near her makes pasty couple times a year as fund raiser. Looking forward to trying these out...even the chicken and veggie.

The Mackinaw Pasty Shop makes an egg and sausage "pasty" which is pretty good, as long as you are not expecting a pasty.
Re: The Official Pasty Thread
By the pic, they don't look like pasty. More like burrito. Not expecting much. But, whathehell. It's a fund raiser.Trapper Gus wrote:The Pantry wrote:Ex-SIL and I still talk few times a year to catch up.
