I don't know much about Halestorm Pylon but I always thought Lzzy was smokin on that Gameday into.

The angle of the photo makes it look like Lzzy works out by cracking coconuts with her thighs.

This tune by Matthew Ryan has a dark, dreary November sound, too..
I'd never heard of this before. Damn solid suggestion. Thanks, Bob.

no problem - thanks for checking it out. Dig a bit deeper into his catalog.. he's been making music for 20+ years and is definitely one of the more underrated songwriters around.Clarett's Folly wrote:Robert J Sakimano wrote:definitely has a good November vibe to it.

I still listen to that from time to time. Actually took my daughter to see them and Fall Out Boy in 2006

I don't mind a good pop punk vibe at times.. I think Japandroids fit that bill just fine. "Celebration Rock" was the album of the summer 5-6 years back..

How can you like pop punk but not like the Ramones? It makes no sense.

yeah I'm here promoting my own stuff.. hung around a few years.. sucked people in with my wit and charm, only to promote myself on iTunes to where I could make somewhere between one and two dollars.
(Matthew has some great music).

Re: What are you listening to right now?
maybe the one more or less upbeat tune from Matthew Ryan's new record - the video is kinda fun. He hired some young ladies from a local art school to portray him and his band.
oh - and Brian Fallon (of The Gaslight Anthem) produced this record.. he's a gem, as well.

from Butch Walker's most recent record.. such a great circa '84-'85 Springsteen-influenced sound.. complete with a big singalong chorus.

Re: What are you listening to right now?
American Songwriter named "God in Chicago" the top song of the year.. I had posted it way back in the spring (I think) in this thread.
from American Songwriter:
from American Songwriter:
We expect strong characters and compelling stories from Craig Finn, whether he’s recording solo or with the Hold Steady. We even expect beautiful details and excellent location scouting. But we didn’t expect a song as powerful, as specific, as lived in, as beautiful, as insightful, as risky as “God in Chicago,” one of the great surprises of 2017. The music is as simple as anything he’s ever done: just a few sad piano chords and a bruised chorus that never repeats. He doesn’t sing, either. Instead, he relates the story of two grieving souls in a matter-of-fact tone, speaking to you, direct and conversational, as casual as a tale told over beers but as serious as a eulogy. When he remarks, “We all want the same things,” you know exactly what he’s talking about, because this story he’s telling isn’t just about two people selling drugs and having a night in Chicago. It’s about you and me and our desire to find some brief escape from the beautiful horror of living.

This is a great tune. I refuse to watch the video, though, lest I ruin the mental image of the story I've already built up.

fair enough, though the video is very much ingrained in the narrative of the song.Clarett's Folly wrote:Robert J Sakimano wrote:American Songwriter named "God in Chicago" the top song of the year.. I had posted it way back in the spring (I think) in this thread.
