I want you to know that I reject your including me in this. I'm a mod on this board and explained why nothing would be done accordingly. That's it. I'm sorry that they argued back with their whining. I guess I could have just ignored them altogether but I don't think that's appropriate either.

Had an extra pair of eclipse glasses this afternoon. Thought about taking them to you until I saw the chick across the street standing in the driveway looking at the mostly cloudy sky near totality wearing plain sunglasses. She and her husband moved in probably a year ago but we'd never met.WhiteBoyHatcher wrote:That's pretty cool, Roc, I forgot you were in WY for some reason.

Today was sorta like August 2003 blackout. There were people outside you'd never seen before. Walked across the street and introduced myself while handing her a pair of eclipse glasses. Nearsighted and only wear glasses for driving. Halfway up their driveway noticed she was at least 8 months pregnant...gonna pop at anytime. Probably a 4 or 5 in Mio but definitely a spinner. I'm an old fuck and don't really give a shit anymore. I was polite and left gracefully.

Little town off of I-77 exit 27 in South Carolina called Blythewood.
The had carnival food, food trucks, beer, and local bands - all set up in their big town park.
Covers performed included: Black Hole Sun, Born Under a Bad Sign, and Ain't No Sunshine.
It was amazing. Had two and half minutes of totality in Tennessee, in a vineyard on a mountain with a few hundred chasers with insane equipment. The impact of the totality cannot be captured by photo or film - the colors of the sun are amazing, the light around you is amazing, the shared mind-blowing among people there is amazing - I was expecting a shadow moving across the sun, and left having experienced something life-changing.

Unfortunately, like a child, you need to explain that the parameters apply to both. Either I delete all the posts, or I ban both posters. I don't know what the hell else the guy wants other than to just whine. Really I think he just likes whining.

Well I'm not a mod on the bin. And actually I did, for awhile, focus the political conversation to the bin. If you recall (no doubt you won't) that was kind of a rampant problem here.
That's mostly what I've done here. Move shit. It was way more successful than you may have noticed as I barely have to do anything now, whereas at first it was constant. So, you know, you're welcome.
Really beyond that I'm not sure what kind of moderating any of you are hoping for. Really I'm all ears. I'll do what you want. This really seriously isn't a politics conversation for me. If there's something else you want then let me know. But I think things have been relatively peaceful in the last several months.

Seriously though. It was a picture of the sitting president looking at the solar eclipse without solar eclipse goggles. If I posted that or bob posted that or SRC posted that or fuckin matty posted that, how is it not relevant? It is. Sorry that the guy you guys voted for is being a dipshit but nobody was posting any number of other times he was being a dipshit in the last 8 months, other than in the bin. This one was relevant to the thread. And no one was really talking about his politics, it was just him being stupid. How SS do you want me to be about this shit?

Okay so like as a moderator on the Beaumont board, which is the thing I'm talking about... my choices are either delete this post or move this entire thread. What it is that everyone would prefer? Personally, id delete the post and let the poster know that if he keeps it up I'm gonna ban him. But I have no idea what the hell everyone else wants here.

I've literally done nothing in this thread and yet... you whine. If pylon does something... you whine. You just whine. You never even say what you want out of moderation instead... you just whine. Re: Roc's Solar Eclipse Party - August 21, 2017
Sorry to hijack this thread, but did anyone see the eclipse yesterday?
Seriously, I'm kind of surprised that some of you outside of the totality expected it to get dark or something. 80% coverage of the sun means 20% is still beaming brightly at you. It doesn't mean that you only get 20% of the light from the sun. I suppose the media is largely at fault. At least down here they were running stories about how the pets will think it's night time, etc. Basically local stations seemed to just pick up national stories about it and run it. I suppose that helps ratings, rather than saying that the 20% of the sun will still give off so much warmth and light that you'll barely notice a difference.
We had about 80% coverage down here, too, so it was similar to Michigan. I did notice that it got a few degrees cooler. Was hot as fucking balls when it started, but at the peak of the eclipse, it felt like a nice February or March day (which down here means low-mid 80s). Warm, but still comfortable. I still enjoyed it. Watching (through eclipse glasses) as you see the moon gradually passing in front of the sun is still pretty cool.
