As far as I can tell, that will only be true for those that stare at the eclipse for too long with the naked eye.

I had a golf outing yesterday. I drank a lot. I was texting my wife who is up north that I think there's a solid 1% chance the world ends today.

The temperature will drop a few degrees, the severity of which depends on how close you are to the path of totality. In no event will it reach ice-age proportions.

I just made an eclipse viewing projector-style box with a box I have at work. I will see if it works, if not oh well.

A welders helmet will work but it has to have at least grade 12 glass. Grade 14 glass would be better.

I walked outside.. cloudy as hell in EL - might stagger out again soon to see what it looks like.

Are you supposed to stare at the sun without any eyewear? That is the best way to view, right? Has anybody posted some tips on how to best view this thing?
