Prepare for something pretty cool tomorrow. Starts about 1pm, maxes at 2:27, and done about 4pm here in the Detroit area.
I've declared tomorrow a casual Monday and wearing jeans to work.

I don't really plan to stare at the sun or anything but I will probably glance in the general direction. Do I need glasses? Where do I get them

Put your phone in selfie mode and look behind you.
It's my 24th anniversary today, is this some kind of sign?

nice sunrise this morning on my run around campus.
not sure what that has to do with anything here, though. Carry on.

I saw a few people interviewed this morning who proclaimed this will be a life-altering event.
As far as I can tell, that will only be true for those that stare at the eclipse for too long with the naked eye.

again, I don't mean to downplay the significance of it - but it's just gonna get sort of dark-ish for a couple of minutes, right..?

I had a golf outing yesterday. I drank a lot. I was texting my wife who is up north that I think there's a solid 1% chance the world ends today.

The temperature will drop a few degrees, the severity of which depends on how close you are to the path of totality. In no event will it reach ice-age proportions.

I just made an eclipse viewing projector-style box with a box I have at work. I will see if it works, if not oh well.

A welders helmet will work but it has to have at least grade 12 glass. Grade 14 glass would be better.

Think I'm gonna leave work at 1 and watch the eclipse at home. Be interesting to see how birds and other critters react.

Once a century astronomical events are way too mainstream for you.

don't mean to burst your bubble, but every second of every day is technically a once in a lifetime astronomical event.Herbie Green wrote:Robert J Sakimano wrote:

Are you supposed to stare at the sun without any eyewear? That is the best way to view, right? Has anybody posted some tips on how to best view this thing?
