Looking for tips on centipede grass lawn

Never gonna be the lush thick deep green lawn I had in Michigan (if summer ever returns). My understanding is it's our maintenance, doesn't like fertilizer, prefers overseeding. My soil base is basically sand. Any of you fellas had experience with this type of lawn?

Yes.

Don't water it and it grows slow as hell. If you're lucky you mow 3 times a year - Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day.
