as has been established, anything over about 70 puts me in a bad mood.
95 would make me want to stab myself in the jugular with a rusty fork.
(don't get any ideas, Pantry).

Wtf do you do if you’re working from home and the power goes out tomorrow?
Look, I’m not essential and the company will survive without my musings for a day. But I don’t want my boss to think I’m caving without a fight here. I’ll prep him in the morning (he’s obvi in Cincy aka the Queen City so not super familiar with our weather) that the power may go and kill my WiFi but I don’t want to be like “nothing I can do boss”

Hotspot your laptop to your my phone. Run the lapper at min power if you don't have a generator.
Or just take a nap. Those are my gotos.

Shits not supposed to really hit the fan until later. I heard peak velocities would be 2-6PM.

Picked one up the other day for $50. 5000 watt. The guy advertised it on facebook, said he could only keep it running if he poured gas directly into the carburetor. Checked it out and it had good compression and figured a carb rebuild isn't that hard so I took it home. Got to checking it out and noticed no gas in the fuel filter. Opened the petcock and it started right up. Good deal.

They're estimating 100,000 without power today. We are usually lucky where we live, so I'm hoping we don't get it. It wouldn't be a big deal, but I need options to keep a 2.5 year old occupied.

It was fairly calm at 8am. It is rocking and rolling now. The wind is howling and the trees are swaying. We we get a real good blow, I'll often see giant oaks just snap in my backyard. Given the current situation, I hope it doesn't get to that level.
You can see the isobars are pretty tight from the East coast through about Wisconsin. The tighter the bars, the winder it will be. Looks like we have a big calm stretch coming after this blows through.

+1 for "Isobars". And I always thought the oaks in your yard would just snap in half when you'd give them a hard look. Nodic Legend.
Good luck everybody. My generator started yesterday. I don't cut my grass, I don't snowblow. I have a tank of gas in the shed that is two years old. I went and got a new one. Does anyone know of places you can take two year old gas to?

I mean, I wouldn't give up on it. I bought my snowblower from Sears the year my wife was pregnant with my son. I also bought a gas tank and I filled it up that winter. I am still using that gas tank to refill my snowblower. It starts on first pull every time if I prime it a couple of times. He is 10 now.

25+ years of competitive fishing on the Great Lakes, weather maps and isobar charts become your best friend. Gale warnings on the Great Lakes, right now. General rule of thumb, if they say waves are going to be 8'... double it. At least that is what it will feel like.
...GALE WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 4 AM EDT
TUESDAY...
* WHAT...Expect sustained winds up to 28 knots from the west
with gusts up to 41 knots. The largest significant waves will
be 8 feet with a potential maximum wave height of 11 feet.

yeah, My new old cousin I found last May was a Petroleum engineer for BP, he says there is no rule but environment has somegthig to do with it. I have had it in the shed outside, not the garage. The garage is actually fairly protected from heat and cold. the shed gets up way over 100 in the summer and way under freezing in the winter. I'll keep it because I'm not going to just dump it. I'll use it as an emergency source I guess. I know the Clinton Township police you can drop off old oil to at a place on Shook and Harper, don't know if they take gas. But I'm not gonna make a trip anyway.

I tucked away our deck furniture and tried to anchor everything down.. a) I don't want various pieces damaged and b) I don't want individual pieces to become lethal implements to unsuspecting people, animals, neighboring houses and/or other belongings.

Dwags, I would add some fuel stabilizer to it (it's pink and you can get it at any gas station) and just slowly burn through it with your car. Add a gal of the old gas and top off with premium.
Adding fuel stabilizer to portable gas cans is a good idea from the start. One other tip is to turn the gas line valve off on your snow blow, lawn mower, generator, etc. and let the gas burn out for a few minutes, instead of shutting it down with the off switch. Especially if you think it might be the last time you use it for the season.
