Playing in the NBA has always been my dream. But I have other dreams as well. This was an incredible season with an amazing group of teammates, but I believe there is still more to accomplish. From the moment the season ended, I started thinking about what else I could do and how I could improve, to help us reach the goals we want to reach. It was surreal to be compared to some of the all-time great Spartans during the tournament because in my mind I still have something left to prove. Those goals will motivate me throughout the offseason. It will always be my goal to play in the NBA, but that’s a dream that can wait a year. I look forward to improving as a player, and continuing to get stronger. I know my teammates are equally committed to improving and I can’t wait for what our season
Year .

Brad Galli is calling the younger Hauser to the good guys. I'm still skeptical until he announces.

We should know for sure by Monday or Tuesday but by all accounts this is happening. He will need a waiver to be eligible this season. That's a crapshoot.

Great replacement for McQuaid. I am most bummed that guy won't be back. He turned into such a great college player for us.

If I were an NBA GM, I'd draft McQuaid before I drafted Nick Ward. I really think McQuaid could catch on in the league like Bryn Forbes has.

While he shoots the 3 well and has a similar tan as MM, Hauser is 6'9, 245. He is a stretch 4.

It'll be interesting to see Izzo run his offense with a nice stretch 4 without feeling like he must run the offense through him. This isn't a slight to Bridges but more an observation on having a nice stretch that isn't a 5* you might feel you "owe" for staying or choosing MSU. I'm rambling......

Next hurdle is eligibility. We aren’t Michigan who needed a quarterback, we’re MSU and rules might be strictly enforced

When Hauser gets an exemption it will be all proof u of m fans need that Izzo is a cheater and can bend the NCAA to his will.

Yeah but Hauser is a different situation. Last year's September Heisman watch list podium lock at QB was an innocent kid who was taken advantage of and got caught caught up committing to a dirty school and lost his starting job. Hauser is clearly an opportunist that represents all that is wrong with college basketball.

Some data and info on transfer waiver approvals...

https://collegefootball.ap.org/t-g/article/revamped-ncaa-waiver-policy-helps-transfers-play-right-away
The new legislation, however, did not change the waiver guidelines. That modification was approved by the NCAA Division I Council in April , with few outside the process noticing...
A request for immediate eligibility can now be granted if the transfer was due to "documented mitigating circumstances that are outside the student-athlete's control and directly impact the health, safety and well-being of the student-athlete."
There is a lot of wiggle room in there for discussion.
Attorney Tom Mars worked with Michigan on Patterson's waiver and now is helping Fields, the former five-star recruit who has transferred from Georgia to Ohio State. Mars said the waiver change so far seems to have been a positive step by the NCAA.
"By enacting a new rule that allows such allegations to be described as mitigating circumstances instead of egregious behavior, the NCAA has encouraged member institutions to settle these matters without the student-athlete's previous school having to admit to any wrongdoing," Mars said. "Over time, this more collaborative approach to addressing waiver requests is likely to result in more positive outcomes for student-athletes.
The rate of transfer waiver approval from April 1-Nov. 9 was 66 percent across all sports, down from the 2017-18 school year when it was 83 percent. But waivers requested before April 1, 2018, include those requesting an extra year of eligibility, not just immediate eligibility.
Since last year's change, NCAA data for Division I shows:
— 63 football players requested waivers and 50 were approved (79 percent).
— 55 men's basketball players requested waivers and 33 were approved (60 percent).
— 39 women's basketball players requested waivers and 30 were approved (77 percent).

I think the bolded part answer the question as to why Shae was granted immediate eligibility. Ole Miss was in the middle of NCAA infractions. Fighting transfer requests from other schools is the least of their concerns and might dig up more dirt.
So what the Hauser's "mitigating circumstances"?

Alleged altercation with Markus Howard. I'm not sure which brother it was. I heard it might have been on the plane after the loss to Ja in the tourney. Or maybe I have that way wrong.

Good question Wake. What others have said is that because TI recruited Joey heavily he knows his character and the character of the family well and this isn't a concern. The inference is that Howard is the problem child. I admit at face value there are some warning signs but I trust Coach.

That was a concern of mine as well. I'm less concerned with the brother dynamics no longer in play. Add in that he really wants to come here, even though it means giving up playing with your brother. I'm sure Izzo didn't sugarcoat it.
