It's amazing to hear people in the administration say they can put the breaks on Trump and that's why they served. They don't understand that silence is always worse than trying to fix stuff on the inside. Going public seems to be the better idea but hey money makes people do crazy stuff..

The cynic in me thinks Trump is effing up the vaccine supply chain to have more COVID related deaths after Biden’s Inauguration than occurred in the last 10 months for a 2024 campaign issue.

But, that's how we got here.. so, ya have to take that into consideration.

It’s going to be pretty pretty fun when we end up wasting mass quantities of vaccine because we’re too obsessed with prioritizing who gets them instead of just giving them out before they go bad.

Feels like the profit motive would propel the drug companies to push this to actually get this in arms at some point. Flood the market, Increased market share, etc.
I suppose we haven't got to that point yet. But I just did see a commercial for a drug if the side effects for your cancer treatment *could* be handled better... So maybe marketing will get this shit in arms.

I’m not really sure on the exact mechanics of how it works, but I would guess that the drug companies get paid whether the vaccine is given out or if it rots in a hospital basement. In fact, if they are paid upon delivery, which makes sense, it benefits them to have some of it rot. Unrestrained capitalism isn’t really designed for getting something into every single person’s arm on behalf of the collective good.

our friend Dr. Scarf went on the Sunday mainstream media chat shows to warn America about her christian hero:

this would've been good information, say, 10 months ago.

She’s not a fraud, she’s a person who is qualified.  However her personality; willingness to work in the background; being a team player made her an obvious choice to be background for Trump’s daily COVID briefing aka propaganda briefing.

she lost me last spring/summer when she went on mainstream media outlets talking about how brilliant the racist, bigoted christian hero is.

I can't imagine being so morally compromised to participate in that sort of thing, all while Americans are dying.

Anthony Fauci is a leader while Deborah Brix is a follower who takes directions well. She can talk about objecting but never spoke up while Trump and inner circle ran over her like a speed bump.

I see a lot of talking points on the news shows about getting kids back into schools and pressing leaders on this topic.

Seems like a bad idea. Flu infections and hospitalizations are way down and my guess is it's either because of masks and home schooling.

I bet if all schools were up we'd find out later they are hot spots. Just seems like one of those bad ideas where later everyone looks back says geeze the media, government etc had another blunder.

Also, I'd be curious to know what the pundits are doing? Sending their kids to school or home schooling?

I wouldn't assume that is the case everywhere that schools are closed, but I suppose it depends on what you consider a good reason.

Every state is responsible for its own school systems. If teachers or administrators are concerned that CDC guidelines can’t be met in their schools, then the system needs to address it. People just shouting “OPEN DA SCHOOLS DUH” are looking for a reason to be mad at somebody on the other team. They’re not thinking about the real issue. The bottom line is schools had to close under the previous administration and it was handled stupidly at all levels because of no clear plan at the top. Schools will reopen under this administration because they are organized and give a shit.
