Miami's D'Eriq King's season is over, as he will be having surgery to fix his shoulder that was injured by MSU.

Portal didn't work out too well for him. Can he apply for a 7th year of eligibility?

I think the article I saw from the Herald said that he can, but sounded like it is probably unlikely that he will.

Who will Miami run out there next year as coach? Any ideas?

They beat the shit outta him. The D has its issues, but they play tough and hit hard. The shots Vedral took, took its tool in the 2nd half Saturday. It is bend and suck the will out of you D.

Not sure. The fans and media will talk about Cristobol. Â Former player, former assistant, from down here, etc. Â But Oregon is a pretty sweet gig if you're having success. Â And the U is apparently a bit of a mess internally with the admin, athletic department, and donors all at odds.

I do consulting work for MasTec. Multi-billion $$$ infrastructure company controlled by the Mas family. Jose Mas is on the UM BoT and apparently very influential at UM. Mas & Diaz are both Cuban. Diaz might get a bit more rope than normal here. He's also the son of former Miami mayor Manny Diaz.

Miami is going to be a tough rebuild IMO. They can attract talent, but they seem like a team that thinks they will win simply because of it (King excluded). The MSU game was a good example. One team was prepared and had hungry dudes willing hit and do the non-glory shit to win. The other seemed more concerned about Insta posts with their touchdown rings.

Not only that, but who would choose that game day atmosphere over a "big time" school? Thought the same seeing Rutgers "homecoming" attendance. Â
It's has a bad high school team (who has a huge band and cheer squad) feel to it. Â Just kinda lame.

Re: tOfficial 2021-22 College Football Thread
even if they win out, very slim chances that Cincinnati gets in the CFP.. right?
I think they'd need for a couple of teams like Bama, OU, Iowa, even ND, et al. to have two losses.

Re: tOfficial 2021-22 College Football Thread
Along those lines. Anyone else notice the scripted photoshoots going on the sidelines after TDs or turnovers? They are definitely organized by the team. I assume they are going up on their social media during the game. I saw Michigan doing it last week. Miami of course and a bunch of others.
I know I am approaching the old man yelling at the clouds phase of my life, but it screams entitlement to me. I can't imagine Saban (read winning programs) allowing it. Mel seems pretty no nonsense, but is also social media savvy. Are we doing this shit too? I hope not.

This. Miami attendance has always been poor. I wouldn't want to coach in that environment.

I think the committee is hoping like hell that Cincinnati trips up somewhere, but I don't see it happening.

Bama might still have a shot, they would have only lost to the teams that beat Bama, which is a quality loss.Nordic wrote:Robert J Sakimano wrote:even if they win out, very slim chances that Cincinnati gets in the CFP.. right?

Why would a move to lsu be beneficial to anyone?
Asked this w Saban. Last time, the admin helped him make his decision.
More pressure, similar competition and pay (now a days, assuming)... no benefits in national standing anymore... right? (Don't remember LSU making it to the final four.) Easier recruiting maybe?
