It's better to have a coach that other schools want, than to have a coach that nobody gives a shit about.

Asked this w Saban. Last time, the admin helped him make his decision.
More pressure, similar competition and pay (now a days, assuming)... no benefits in national standing anymore... right? (Don't remember LSU making it to the final four.) Easier recruiting maybe?
Going to LSU was beneficial for Saban and LSU. He won a National Championship there. And they just won a National Championship in 2019.

Saban benefitted back in the day cause MSU was perennial tier 2. Really no chance of being at a higher level. (Which speaks volumes to Coach Ds run) & got a pay raise... easier crootin'.NigelUno wrote:AvgMSUJoe wrote:Why would a move to lsu be beneficial to anyone?

Forgot about 2019. So both have one final four.

Also, there wasn't a dominant SEC team when Saban went. LSU's division had had 4 different winners in the previous 4 years when Saban took over. It wasn't quite the same as walking into LSU now, despite the NC 2 years ago.
Hopefully, if LSU is actually interested, Tuck sees the progress he has made here and sees a greater chance for success here.

Buyout is now $2.5 million, which I think is less than what it was to buy him out at Colorado.

Jimbo Fisher is going to be the next LSU coach. The LSU AD is the guy who hired him at A&M. They have a long history. Fisher has zero buyout in his A&M contract. That's what I learned from listening to Thamel and Forde Sunday night podcast this morning.

No buyout, but he's getting around $9 million/year through 2031 at A&M.
A 10 year deal worth $120-150 million might pique his interest.

That was exactly their point. They figure he is plan A, A1 and A2.

He might not have a buyout (per se), but in effect he does have a buyout. They would have to overwhelmingly top his current contract.
I'm not buying it. I think they go elsewhere.

Good for WSU.
$3 million/year through 2025. All he had to do was get the shot.
And just beat Stanford.
Hope it was all worth it for him.

Navy 10
Cincinnati 7
Kansas 10
Oklahoma 0
Both these teams need stay points and this isn’t happening.
