Super bowl commercials, in the year of our Lord 2022, kinda suck. They’re usually something that was thought a little too hard about inside the marketing room and aren’t really all that funny or clever for the most part. It’s like they’re always trying too hard.

They used to be a lot more fun, sure. But at this point when I hear someone say “I only watch for the commercials” I wonder if they wouldn’t have more fun just watching Netflix or something

All though 1984 is considered the beginning of the big, super, SuperBowl ads (with Apple's famous 1984 commercial) things really took off with the creativity and people "watching for the commercials" in the early 90s when it was an NFC blowout every year for a while. And the trying too hard has been going on since just after that. I haven't given a shot about the commercials in a long time. The hype, relative to the entertainment quality, and certainly the effectiveness, is just so overblown it is nauseating.

I had some idiot pass me on a 90-degree turn, blind, with two crossroads that they couldn't see & with trees and ditches on both siads, so no escape routes, and at the second crossroad he turned ... it was definitely a WTF move ...

Have had a number of people pass on the double yellow on hills and with cross roads coming up ...

I never knew until about 5 minutes ago that actors Owen Wilson and Luke Wilson are brothers. My wife didn't either. Not that we follow much goings on with celebs, but I'm surprised I hadn't heard that before.

I've noticed it a lot more too. I've gone the opposite and taking things easier. I can always turn around or take the next exit if it doesn't work out. The time is negligible.
