Sounds like they have a real crisis. Unlike the oil companies, who raise prices because “there’s not enough crude” but no gas stations ever shut down for lack of gas. Interesting dilemma.

That's because gas is easy to store. Electricity, not so much.

Funny that batteries is one form of electric storage and the charging of EV batteries at night when electric usage is low is one way to increase electricity providers profits and store electrucity for later use.

You are making my point aren't you Trapper?   The big roadblock in a switch to wind/solar is not how to make electricity from wind/solar but how to store large quantities of it for use when there is not wind or sun.

Ford doesn't yet offer AWD in a HEV, PHEV or BEV that I like but that will haooen going forward in time. My plan was to keep the 2008 until it died, mechanically, which by then, I hoped the market would have created the BEV AWD vehicle I want, but that deer had ideas, too.

I try not to think about what I hate about the new vehicle, waste of time and energy, but the power train noise and having shift points is near the top of the list that I don't think about.

Being somewhat on the inside of the industry I like Ford Truck Engineering, had one car, it didn't last.

As for the needs, we have a good relationship with our local Ford dealer, which is why we got a hot selling vehicle at list when there is a shortage.

What point will this actually affect demand? Doesn't appear to be yet. Roads as clogged as ever.

Presumably the demand is also lower than in years past, too, as gasoline is similar to electricity in that it doesn't sit in storage for very long.

As we go into the summer months demand will increase, presumably, as it typically does.

Not sure what to make of the huge profits that oil companies and gasoline companies are making other than they are price gouging because they can, not because they need to.  Gasoline is a somewhat inelastic supply & demand curve, as though there are some trips people can forgo, there are some they cannot.
