As the owner of an ECO Boost 1.5 liter engine, hybrid coming in 2024, I actually am shocked at how much power the engineers were able to create with so low a displacement.  High compression due to supercharging I suppose.

Took a ride on a nearly 100 year old boat in upstate NY this weekend. The power plant has been converted to electric. Beautifully quiet and no vibration like a Diesel engine. And the operators are quite happy about the savings on fuel.
