yeah, I live for winter trail running. Doing a trail half-marathon in a couple of weeks and the whole point of it was to do it in the dead of winter, almost as a 'survival' - at this rate, I'm gonna be wearing shorts.

This was going to be the year I bought a fat tire and got into winter biking through snow, but I procrastinated. It would have been a bust anyway.

My mind are blown. 52° at midnight in February.

It’s going to cool back down. It was 50° here a couple hours ago, but now it’s near 40. Tomorrow’s high will hit 38° and it’s going to stay in the neighborhood of upper 30s/low 40s for a week or more.

Trying to decide when to spray the high strength roundup down to kill the redbud seedlings.

Started collecting maple sap yesterday, it was flowing real good and I probably should have started a few days earlier but it's not even the middle of February. It's usually late February, early March when I do it.
Down to next to nothing today but if it's supposed to be near to low 40's I should be okay. I'd like to get enough sap for a gallon of syrup this year which is typically 30-35 gallons from my trees.

I have 2 maples in the backyard with the stuff just running out of them. Never seen it like that.

I have 2 maples in the backyard with the stuff just running out of them. Never seen it like that.

That's what one of the trees was doing yesterday, sap running out of a knot in the tree and how I got my start several years ago when I noticed sap dripping from one of the same trees. I've got three huge sugar maples that are around 140+ years old.

Yeah, we need colder temps or fruit trees and everything else are going to get screwed up.
Also, not slamming you specifically but I can’t believe anyone still uses Roundup after all we know about it. Have you tried extra strength vinegar?

Vinegar works for regular weeds/grasses, but not redbud.

I don't worry about the kill everything version of Roundup. Ortho makes something similar called Groundclear.

vinegar, Epsom salt and dish soap mixture.

The vinegar/Epsom salt create an acidic death cocktail for weeds, the dish soap helps it adhere to the leaves/foliage so it doesn't just go straight to the ground.

The weed/foliage in question will be brown in an hour or so.

I have some nasty thorny vines in a wild area i want to get rid of. Will try that.

it doesn't target certain plants, so it'll impact anything it touches. Keep that in mind.

WTF? Just had two inches of snow dumped on me in about 20 minutes and it's still coming down. I look out the window when I woke up, no snow. Half hour later roads and yard are covered.

Got up early because the local weather told me that if I wasn't on the road before the snow started, I'd surely die.

I should amend my previous post. At least an inch has fallen in a very short time (though it looks like maybe it's starting to taper off a bit now?). At one point, it was full on white out conditions here.

finished shoveling the driveway.. 36° out, so the driveway and sidewalk in front of our modest abode are now snow/ice/slush free.

31 F with a dew point of 14. Dew point is the lowest I've noticed in awhile.

Tomorrow sounds like trouble in SE MI. Could be 1" hail between 4-10am and 2" hail from 6 to midnight. Not a great day to park a car outside.

Might work out, insurance wise. Been thinking about a new vehicle.

Same here only mostly mid michigan winters. I can never remember a winter with next to zero snow. Or a February day with a high near 70 like predicted today. It's almost like the climate is changing or something.

Where is this weather that we’re going to have coming from? I’m on my deck looking directly. Southwest sky is completely blue and it’s 65° maybe more. It’s got that feel of “ let’s have a beer or two call an Uber and head down to a Tigers game”. in other words, it feels like early to mid May

In what direction is all this rain and hail supposed to be coming from?

Radar shows a line of precipitation over by Minneapolis heading this way. It doesn't look like the killer hours long 2" hail storm they've been pushing though. But what do I know, I don't even know where the nearest Holiday Inn Express is.

all of our indoor plants have been outside getting sun.. watered them good, too.

Just got back from a 1.5 mile walk wearing a short sleeve MSU Tee in 72 degrees.

Think there’s going to be hell to pay tomorrow.
