Guide to sending the democratic party a message and resisting the fucking fascists
Anyone have any actionable ideas? Not only do we need to fight against these fascist mother fucks, but we need to make sure our party gets the memo that they too need to change and fucking get their claws out and fight.
So far, all I've got is:
Boycott CNN
Boycott Twitter
Cnn because I view them as the chief offender in sane washing trump and operating generally like both sides are equal and thus giving trump a lot more legitimacy. Twitter for obvious reasons. Fuck them both.
I'm down for participating in a counter information efforts against the fascists, shaming them for fun whenever possible, and more. Please advise

I'm seriously in the let fascism ring corner. Give them what they voted for and watch how they get completely fucked. Maybe they'll finally learn.

Well, not sure many are going to be down for that. Its pretty hard to unring that bell so you're asking for allowing a major shift that could last hundreds of years. If I could guarantee that it would last a short amount of time, I perhaps might be with you. But if you let a crime family truly take over, we could be fucked forever more.

It's a gamble, that's for sure. But I'm old enough, male enough, and white enough where it's not going to matter much for me either way. I'm all out of fucks to give at this point.

Maybe get out of your fucking echo chambers, try to find out why rural, working class America has abandoned the Democratic party, and make an appropriate plan for 2026/2028 that doesn't include forcing a chosen one on the populace?

That's your mistake right there. We ARE the party. We've followed the morons in charge for too long. Time to start bringing informed, intelligent solutions forward and demanding change.

I think that’s exactly what’s gonna happen. But how much damage can they do as far as Supreme Court nominees bills being passed by Congress, etc. this could be a real crappy four years.

Biggest complaint I saw out of them was the price of gas and the price of groceries. Somehow Donnie the Felon is magically going to fix that with tariffs.

Its pretty simple, I would bet 80% of it is thanks to propaganda/fox news. If the Dems suddenly all started acting like George Bush Republicans, they would still be brainwashing those folks about the lunatic left wing.

1. boycott all aspects of the mainstream media
2. boycott churches (religion has always been poison.. it should be more obvious now)
3. don't tolerate republican/libertarian voters... you'll hear them whine about "setting politics aside" or "I can't believe you would let politics ruin a friendship"... you're not letting politics ruin a friendship.. I'm not hanging around Nazi fascists who hate women, America, democracy and traditional American values. Big difference, snowflake.
4. participate in critical thinking
5. listen to good music
6. drink a lot of water, try to eat well, take vitamins and supplements: gotta be healthy to fight fascism and they're counting on wearing down decent Americans.
7. surround yourself with positive, loving, caring, decent folks who inspire you to be the best version of yourself, not give you permission to be the worst version of yourself (see #3 above).

How and where? That's the question. What is actionable right now on a useful scale? I learned in Trump's first reign that most of the response was useless, Facebook groups sprung up everywhere called divisible, that did nothing. How do we get our leadership to listen to us tell them to grow a fucking pair and fight?

All that is basically cut off the trumpet morons and create your own bubble. How do we get the party to fucking listen? I don't want to get to 2026 or 2028 and lose again because we boycotted a vote. These fascists need to be rebuffed as quickly as possible so we need to learn as a party, and learn quickly

engage with leaders when you can, congressional leaders, state/local levels, as well. Lift others up to do the same. Provide a voice to those who feel voiceless. Make certain they're seen and heard. Marginalized folks will feel more emboldened when they feel they're safe - create that environment for them. A grassroots groundswell will get the attention of leaders when it's constructive, vocal and committed.
so while it's healthy to cut out the hate, racism, bigotry, misogyny and fascist republicans/libertarians, it's equally valuable to surround ourselves with a community, a bubble as you mentioned, rooted in values that you share. It's healthy, it provides calm contentment and reminds us that there are more of us than there are of them.

Maybe getting the party to listen isn't the goal. The parties do not pick good candidates. Good candidates rise and excite people, forcing the party to accept them. Bill Clinton was not the party's choice when the 1992 primaries started. Obama wasn't either. Trump wasn't in 2016 or in 2024. And if you think about it, the opponents of each of those candidates were pretty much their parties' pick prior to the primaries as being their turn. Bush I was the incumbent of course, but Dole, Kerry, McCain, Romney, Hillary, Kamala. Biden wasn't even really the party's preference.sεяεηιτλ wrote:Robert J Sakimano wrote:1. boycott all aspects of the mainstream media

Bush-Gore was probably the only race in the last 30 some years that had both candidates being pretty much picked by party officials from the start.
So I tend to think that the best candidate is not one that's on most people's radar at this point.

Guys. It doesn't fucking matter. This is the death of America. Nothing will ever be the same. There is no coming back from this. The economy is going to tank. I have a meeting with my financial advisor tomorrow. Can I cash out my 401k and my wife's and sell our house to move to an island? I'm not kidding too much. I don't want to talk to anyone on my family, I really don't want to talk to anyone. The US as we knew it is dead and gone and there isn't anything we can do about it.

Oh, I'm not taking about cashing out tomorrow, I'm talking about cashing out on the next 12-18 months before everything tanks. I'm not willing to give up a million in savings over white nationalism.

I'm sticking with my prediction that just like 2017 Republicans will do much less than Trump promised.
Sure Trump and his 2025 minions will change the direction of existing programs and if they go after the big ones they will find that there are corporations who are in Republican districts who will squeal.
Musk and his trillions of cuts in the budget require Congess to act, and even if the Republicans have control of the House did you not watch the 118th House infighting?
They will all get sucked down by "the swamp" because what "the swamp" has been doing is pretty much what a large majority of us want it to do.

Second, I did post in the election thread saying I was wrong on Wednesday. I'm done with the past and looking forward with my usually clear eyed nonpartisan vision.

It’s pretty depressing. Who knows how much of his program will be implemented. He’s such a liar. Where most of us are taught to under promise over deliver, he has lived his life the exact opposite. America will be different but until and unless his policies punch the middle class in the stomach it is the country we live in. Just think of the people in Gaza or Ukraine. It’s life or death with them.

I'm not rooting for the economy to be bad, but if Trump enacts tariffs that impact people in a noticeable way (and that can be tied to the Republicans in 2028), then there will be change.

You're probably right, but we still need the party to fucking listen, to get out it's God damn claws and stop acting like it's 1994. Attacking trump nonsense isn't attacking, it's low hanging fruit that most people on both sides ignore because he flooded the field with shit. We need actual coordinates messaging that destroys them or appeals to middle and lower classes. This battle needs to be fucking on and it should not entirety take some mythical candidate to rise up from the ashes and take the reigns, though that would certainly help.

Unless he enacts tariffs that impact the cost of iphones, no one's life is going to change that much (that they need to consider moving anyway, or stocking up on soup)...in my opinion.
America still has some pretty good advantages over living elsewhere.

His tariffs will almost assuredly make my life worse as I'm going to be left dealing with trying to raise our prices on imported parts in a world of contracted pricing agreements. I'm already dreading the prospect as I'm not sure it can actually be done at scale and if it can't be done we are left absorbing it all, which will probably harm jobs since the industry is flat or down right now.

I don't want to talk to anyone on my family, I really don't want to talk to anyone. The US as we knew it is dead and gone and there isn't anything we can do about it.
Unless he enacts tariffs that impact the cost of iphones, no one's life is going to change that much (that they need to consider moving anyway, or stocking up on soup)...in my opinion.
America still has some pretty good advantages over living elsewhere.
People survived him the first time. They'll survive this time.
Most people will survive. Some, and I think you can guess which ones, definitely will not survive. Literally.

I'm not convinced he'll enact tariffs that would have a clear impact on the consumer. He could be that dumb though.
Is he willing to play chicken with China over tariffs? Maybe. And that might not be a bad thing.
But, if the cost of iphones go up...or cars...or Nikes...or a ton of items at the Dollar Store, that's how you win on the economy.
Are there a ton of industries that can move production back to the US? And still profit? I'm a little skeptical of that. And he'll face backlash from corporations and shareholders if stock prices plummet.

Which is why it is unlikely that he will do that

Trump may or may not understand in detail what China is doing in selected markets to reduce its corporations costs, but he gets they are doing something.
Tariffs on most Chinese goods make sense to balance the big advantage China is creating accounting wise.

It’s a world economy, and no one understands that better than US corporations and their shareholders. If he screws it up enough that your average consumer will understand it…

Generally I think so. Its stuff from a sister company that auto OEMs have specced in here. It may be us but it's still sold to us in the transfer. I'm not in purchasing, I deal more on the pricing side where the actual problem will be. Our price goes up on the transfer, we either have to eat it or raise our price to the buyers.
There is Zero appetite for further price increases right now and half of what we sell is under contract. If we raise the price, it will trigger a round of market testing and we could lose the business. We do a good job of dissuading engineers from going with a part made in China but there are quite a few cases where it has to be done just because it's likely something unique that can't be purchased here at the moment.
