On the annuity that's about $45K per day every day for 30 years. Isn't that a pay cut for most of the rollers here?
45k/day is for poor people. Talk to me when that number is per hour and I'll start to listen per minute

After thinking about it, I pity whoever wins this upcoming pot. Their life would become a living hell.

gHost Spartan wrote:It depends on the person. Most of the people whose lives are ruined by winning the lottery are pathetic pieces of shit to begin with, dumb fucks that end up pissing the money away and who are too stupid to plan long term. Much the same as pop stars and pro athletes. I can guarantee that 99% of the people that post here would handle their winnings differently. Then again, pocketing an instant 300 million would be quite the overwhelming experience. The Pantry wrote:Only tanfan and SD83475.

The problem would be all the pieces of shit that come out of the woodwork. Saw a show on tlc about this dude that won and he got over 50 letters each day from random people asking for money.
You would have to tell very few people and just straight up move somewhere and invent a back story to love hassle-free

The person I know who won the PowerBall in Three Rivers, MI a few months ago, took the lump sum payment instead of the over-time one. Stupid.

I think that's what you have to do, especially if you're over 50. The payments stop when you die, right? Hell, I'm 38 and I think I would have to lump sum it because I figure there's probably a decent chance I would die within the next few years and I wouldn't want to leave my wife and kids with only 20 mil or something.

Re: The Lottery
Jokingly mentioned the lottery when meeting with my tax guy couple years ago. Said he has 3 clients that have won from $10M to $30M. Forget his reasoning but remember him saying the lump sum is the only way to go.

the money would go to your wife/kids, it doesnt just disappear
and lump sum is for sure the way to go...put that shit away and you would have sooo much more money than annuity

Yea, I bought the idiot tax. But someone has to win
I suspect that there will be multiple winners of powerball this round. Often happens when it's this high and probably every combination has been picked.

I bought 2 powerball and 2 megamillions(better shot at winning mega with everyone dumping into powerball). Dude at the store said he thinks it might be close to a billion by the cutoff.

They're projections for the payout are ultra conservative, if you have that size lump of cash and are willing to take a tiny bit of risk, you should easily be able to do much better.
Plus, with the lump sum it's a lot easier to make it rain

He also said to not claim the ticket by yourself if you intend to give some of the cash to family and friends because it would end up double-taxed if you don't include them on the original claim. Had not thought about that before.I.B. Fine wrote:The Pantry wrote:Jokingly mentioned the lottery when meeting with my tax guy couple years ago. Said he has 3 clients that have won from $10M to $30M. According to the emails I get I've already won seven or eight lotteries worth millions of dollars. I just have to send them my info and some guy from the FBI will deposit it into my checking account

Probably $one billion if it does. My grandchildren's grandchildren would be set for life if I hit it.

That would be a bad idea IMO. Would turn all of them into self-serving, big-mouthed dipshits that would never accomplish anything. Sorta like SD9127393Jake from State Farm wrote:LooseGoose wrote:

I wouldn't make the access to it that easy. Higher education would be one of the prerequisites to get some of it. I wouldn't want them to end up like the Kennedy and Bush clans, and like SD 27583 or whoever the f he is..

A trust would need to be worded carefully to attempt to exclude any assholes any of them might marry.
