It said to see a manager. I don't think it was $50k though.Giant Moose wrote:What did that cost? I'd pay at least $50,000 for that.InTenSity wrote:Oh, I forgot, there was part of the Spartan floor, and it was labelled, 'Kissed by a Byrd'. No idea what that was about though.

Boar's Head is premium. The Publix brand is probably about $7.99/lb. The packaged stuff you can get for $3.99 - $6.99 a package, and that goes on sale.Other Teams Pursuing That wrote:InTenSity wrote:

AFAIK there aren't any Piggly Wigglies in Miami, or at least in South Dade. That and we don't eat much bacon anymore.Giant Moose wrote:InTenSity, how come you don't buy your bacon at Piggly Wiggly?

Really? I thought they were big down there. I guess they probably went out of business at one point.InTenSity wrote:AFAIK there aren't any Piggly Wigglies in Miami, or at least in South Dade. Ever consider finding a farm? Use to get sides of grass-fed beef from a family farm in Hillman. The Piedmontese was pretty good.LooseGoose wrote:I'm east of TC about 90 miles. East of Grayling, West of Mio. Pretty slim pickings in this area for butcher shops.tMolson wrote:
The shop I frequent isn't in the city, just a little podunk country family run place that's been around forever and prides themselves on doing things the right way. You're up in TC right? Their has to be a few of these places around?

I think they are keeping the name, but I'm pretty sure they sold off half their stores. They are bigger in the Carolina's and deep south. I live in North Cuba. The cheap food is at Sedano's, but you need to watch the expiration dates.Giant Moose wrote:Really? I thought they were big down there. Yep, I've done the freezer beef thing when I had the kids at home. With just me here most of the time it doesn't make sense. The Pantry wrote:Ever consider finding a farm? Use to get sides of grass-fed beef from a family farm in Hillman. The Piedmontese was pretty good.LooseGoose wrote:

Occasional trip to the best butcher shop within reasonable driving distance, plus buy a vacuum sealer?LooseGoose wrote:Yep, I've done the freezer beef thing when I had the kids at home. With just me here most of the time it doesn't make sense. The Pantry wrote:

What's the going rate on duck these days?
Any projections for 9/12? I'm looking to have some roast duck that evening around 8pm.

I bought a bunch of 85% Ground Beef for $2.99/lb. I don't eat a ton of beef anymore, but that was the best price I've seen in about a year.

Dammit why can't it be like when I was a young lad and you could get a burger, fries, a shake and change back from your dollar?
And here's to creep-tastic I about fell over when the trashcans started to dance. I'd forgotten all about that.

I hunt and fish a lot and I've found that wrapping in well in plastic wrap then freezer paper protects the food better then when I've used a vacuum sealer.

apparently it's around $14. Eggs just jumped up a dollar. From 2.99/dozen to 3.99 for jumbo.HT wrote:What's the going rate on duck these days?
