Meh, that’s his dad and that’s his religion.  It has nothing to do with the Vikings situation. The part that is , I don’t know, for lack of a better word, disappointing, is that you have people who are hurting the team that they play for.  I get it, you’re religious, but then maybe you should pray on it and think about dropping off the team.  You could cost your team some major set backs. You practice with the ones Monday through Friday, get the majority of snaps and Friday night you test positive and aren’t vaxed. I mean it’s really going to screw up some squads.  Something had to give. I’m not just talking cousins, I have no doubt there are players on every team that will hurt their squad.

The vaccine hesitancy isn't just political and from far right media and religious nuts telling people not to get it, especially when it comes to young people (including athletes). Kirk may be that case, or maybe he was anti-vax pre-covid, who knows? But I think the fact that most young people don't get it bad leads people to think, "Why bother?" Of course, that's selfish and ignores the potential long-term effects, as is the case with a lot of decisions young people make. When you see the high number of athletes that aren't vaxxed, and only 25-30% of eligible teens vaxxed, it is definitely more than political.

Of course, you also have high level athletes on record as believing that the moon landing was a hoax (and how many haven't said it publicly?), so there's an openness to conspiracy theories. I tend to think that young people in general are more open to conspiracy theories, and social media can fuel that.

Grew up in a mostly Catholic neighborhood...the church and school (K-12) compound was maybe a half mile away.  Raised Protestant and going to public school, found the uniforms the Catholic kids had to wear to school sort of odd.

As kids we played together out in the streets/fields and got along pretty good most of the time.  Other times, they were like Jekyll and Hyde.  Looking back at my elementary school time, I don't blame my old Catholic friends for turning their noses up at us occasionally.  It was like their parents sometimes had sit-down talks telling them Protestants were bad.  

A change happened during the years between public school junior high and high school.  The Catholic kids got to attend the PS high school three out of six hours a day, called "shared time".  It was cool.  No uniforms, they looked like the rest of us. The Catholic chicks were pervy in dress, speech, and way they presented themselves...hot as hell...maybe resentment of their religious upbringing.  Turned into junior/senior HS years I still remember fondly.

Haven't been to a Catholic or Protestant church in over 20 years.  Still occasionally get mail from the local Catholic church requesting a donation.  Still get occasional mailings requesting a donation from a non-denominational in EL I attended once over 40 years ago.

Over the years have become disenchanted with religion.  I'm good with spirituality. Sure as hell can't hurt now, or after we all kick.
