Maybe Kirk is just working the Vikings to get a deal done there.

Financially, I don't know how it makes sense for Atlanta.

Kirk supposedly wants $45 million/year for 2 years.

The Falcons could get Russell Wilson for next to nothing, or trade for Fields (and pay him $6 million this year, and $25 million next year). Signing Kirk would eat up cap space the Falcons need at other positions. Plus Kirk is coming off an injury.

Albert Breer who writes the Monday Morning Quarterback for SI said this might be happening this morning on Dan Patrick.

According to Breer, Cousins (his agent) wanted a 3 year commitment while the Vikings talked about a 2 year deal with an options for 2025.

The Vikings blinked and Cousins’ agent Mike McCartney went to Atlanta and got a 4 year contract worth $180M with $100M guaranteed.

Doesn’t hurt that Cousins’s wife is from Alpharetta GA about an hour away from the Falcon’s training facility and an hour away from the stadium.

Come summer there should be enough to spend time in their 2nd home overlooking Lake MI next to Oval Beach. Pretty good for 4th rd draft pick with 101 players chosen before him.

He bought that golf course in Saugatuck last summer also. I had played it before.
