Right, that's why I noted that they were Olympians that were accusing him, because it shows that he could, and often did, both molest and heal. He had to be good at the legitimate part of his job in order to continue to get access to do his atrocious acts.

I would agree with you Goose, the heat needs to be shared. CNN has MSU in the crosshairs today, and rightfully so, regarding the 2014 Title IX complaint.

I read that one yesterday or last night. No doubt MSU has responsibility there and back when Klages and the trainers were told.

I remain amazed at how many people from how many organizations were warned about this guy and essentially did nothing.

I know I am an asshole for saying this the other day, but I gave sound reason based upon my own family member could call herself a victim. I am not doubting the girls who were assaulted or abused but I think there are some who could fit under the category of just being treated medically who are pilling on.

Wouldn't she be the only one who would benefit, trying to sway any public opinion. Obviously a monster like Nassar won't get the benefit of the doubt since its easier to just pile on than to be like my sister and say he actually helped her. Actually I found what you wrote to be very enlightening. It also speaks to the nuances of the case.

If we accept as a fact that he was able to help you sister and provided a legitimate medical procedure. I still wonder if he treated your sister in part for his own pleasure or in a way that a medical professional should operate.

At the risk of sounding like an insensitive asshole myself - for example, did he use gloves? I really DO NOT want to know the answer, I am just pointing out the type of nuance that potentially crosses a line.

ETA: I have great respect for your sister. It is her body, no one elses - and if she was OK with his treatment no one should attempt argue otherwise.

No he didn't but when I asked her about she said our father (RIP) was in the room 2 out of 6 times. My dad was the asst AG and head of liquor control and gambling in Michigan for many years. A big, intimidating guy who played football and wrestled at MSU so I wonder if that had any effect on Nassars treatment and behavior. Either way I still think this sick fuck did good for a lot of people but terrible things to others. Another recently learned tidbit is that he had performed the pelvic floor treatments on adult women (this I've heard from my mother who says it was a topic at her monthly card game where 2 of the 16 women in her game said they've had it done and said it helped them a lot) which is just another wrench in the works.

We as a society hold doctors in the highest regard. The Thomashow woman was 24 when she was assaulted and chose to not go to police. Think how confused she was that a world renowned doctor would do something like that. He received everyone’s benefit of the doubt. Even his victims’.

I think if a guy who used the cover of medical treatment to abuse girls has admitted to it, we should assume that any girl he touched was for his perversion and treat them all as victims. There may be days when he wasn't feeling his "urges" (gross) and just did his job, but why would we want to go down that path?

John Adams took a ton of shit (including death threats) from the people of Boston because he agreed to be defense counsel (whatever it was called at the time) to the British soldiers that killed the colonists at the Boston Massacre. Adams did not like the British at all, but he believed that strongly in the right of someone to have a real legal defense and not just be railroaded.
