Grocery store and? Not challenging, I barely remember it. I thought it was fine.
I caught (npi) Catch Me If You Can again tonight on AMC. Such an underrated movie. And speaking to the Ringer article perhaps we should segregate Christmas movies from awesome movies that have Christmas themes in the background. If we did that, this is top 3, easily. Along with Die Hard and Step Brothers.

Agree. Like how Miracle on 34th Street should really be classified as a legal/courtroom drama. And It's A Wonderful Life is really just a supernatural/g host story. Not sure why people want to call those "Christmas movies". I'll give a pass to A Christmas Carol. I mean, that's reall just a g host movie, too, but that little dickens that wrote the book kind of cheated his way into the "Christmas book" category by naming it with the word "Christmas" in the title.

Saw the Original Oceans 11 again. It picks up where Xmas ends and ends in the New Year. The main heist goes down during the countdown to the new year. A flawed movie but a good film for this week.

Haven't seen any of the Die Hard movies in my cable listings the last few weeks. Only in the last couple days has AMC been playing Lethal Weapon, which is on now.

I can't believe people like Elf. When everyone sang Christmas carols to power the sleigh, I'm like yeah right. No way could that work.

It's not the singing that does it directly it's the Christmas cheer. And the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear. There are other ways, of course, like Two-Hearted and blowjobs. But you can get in serious trouble for blowjobs in central park.

I have a total Christmas meaning rant in my head, but rather than bore you all with it ...
Best Christmas movies
1) The Muppet Christmas Carol (And every other version of A Christmas Carol, including Mr. Magoo & Donald Duck - I could do a rant just about these)
2) Miracle on 34th Street - original with Natalie Wood in B/W
3) It Happened on 5th Avenue
4) Christmas in Connecticut
5) The Shop Around the Corner
6) Holiday Inn
7) It's a Wonderful Life
8) Prancer
9) White Christmas
10) Ernest Saves Christmas
11) The last 30 minutes of Christmas with the Kranks
12) Christmas Story
13) Nightmare Before Christmas
14) How the Grinch Stole Christmas
15) Christmas Vacation
16) The Santa Clause (1, 2 & 3)

That's a movie that should be watched in a theatre.
Unless you have a really big TV.
Cruise's speech at the beginning was a bit much though.

Any rules around what is an isnt a Christmas movie have been entirely perverted. It doesn’t mean anything anymore. Star Wars is a Christmas movie now fuck you. So is lord of the rings. And Apollo 13? You best believe that is a christmas movie too

it seems to me that all potential "rules" went out the window when people tried to claim die hard is a christmas movie.

Well at least The Godfather was a Christian?
Star Wars - trying to see that as an allegory for the Christian faith, maybe?
Apollo 13? It was in fucking April.
LOTR author Tolkin was a member of the "Christian apologists" at Oxford so maybe LOTR is some sort of allegory for the Chirstian faith, like another member of that group, C. Lewis's "Narnia" series is?
All that minutia aside, to me a Christmas Movie has to explicitly have something directly to do with Christmas, which none of those do.

Star Wars was famously an allegory for the Vietnam war. I’ll leave it to the masses to decide if the US was the rebellion or empire
