Ferrell rubbed me the wrong way for a time too, but I've nearly come full circle. Take the blinders off and watch Elf. Great concept, great writers and actors.

If that doesn't work, it has James Caan (former Spartan) and Mary Steenbergen who is like the greatest "hot-or-not" of all time.

"When Mike grows up"

It's like a 15-20 minute stretch. Pretty dramatic and amazing in retrospect. He is purposely made to look like a clueless kid, despite being probably 40 years old, in the scene were Sonny and Tom contemplate taking the deal from Solozzo. Fast forward a few minutes to Mike taking Kay's phone call and Clemenza mocking him - he's still clearly a Jr in the room, but Sonny and Tom allow him into the business momentarily before thinking better of it. Fast forward slightly and it's CHRISTMAS (Nordy) at the hospital with no guards. This is where Mike comes into his own. In 15 minutes he goes from floppy haired shmuck to Godfather elect. And it doesn't seem forced. Pretty amazing.
