Matty I’m worried about Wednesday after all of the recent performances despite winning today. Especially with alisson out and Henderson maybe in but who knows if he’ll hit the ground running. Winning the premier league obviously will be great but it’s been so baked in for three months that I’m worried it will be a little anticlimactic if there’s no champions league run with it

Planning a trip to SLC to watch the women's team play. Kids wanna sit close. They wanna see faces more than the game play. 2nd row too close? 10th row to far?

I don’t think there’s gonna be a too close really for something like that. Sure if you’re trying to get a good view of the game it might not be perfect but who cares if it’s a one chance to see them in person kinda thing ya know. I’d go second row

Re: Warning, this thread is for soccer (more like Travis and Matty Liverpool chat)
So for real I wonder what the EFL is going to do.
Liverpool winning aside, which really is a given at this point and any other result would be foolish... if further games can’t be played what the hell are you going to do with promotion and relegation?
It’d be easy to say “just start over next year” like American leagues can do but what the hell do you tell to Leeds and West Brom who are all but assured of promotion next year? “Sorry boo you’re going to lose all of the money associated with promotion better luck next year”? And if you don’t want to do that, then how do you relegate anyone other than Norwich? Tell Aston Villa to fuck off if they don’t like it? That’s not fair either. It’s a real quagmire.
On the other hand, it’s tough to see Euros and other international tournaments happening this summer. Maybe you just finish this season out in the summer, then start a new one a week later. That’d work, but it’s still assuming that you can resume play in May, which isn’t guaranteed

Maybe a playoff between the too two and bottom two for regulation this summer? Hard to see the major tournaments happening

Liverpool have lost 4 of their last 6. The collapse had started, so hardly a guarantee that they'd see it out.
League Titles:
Manchester United-20
COVID-19
Liverpool-18
Even if they give it to Liverpool, it isn't like other teams have a realistic claim to getting screwed. That isn't the case in the relegation zone and other divisions.
Villa right now are in the relegation zone. But they've played one less game than the 3 or 4 teams above them, and if they were to win that, they'd be out of the relegation zone. The other thing is that not everyone has played the same teams, the same home/away mix, etc. And this gets extrapolated to every division.
One of the possible suggestions being discussed is that they would give Liverpool the title, promote 2 from the Championship, relegate none from the PL, and have 22 teams next year. I think this based on the fact that Leeds and WBA are both close, but have a 9-10 point lead over the third place team. But even that screws the teams that would go to the playoff for the third promotion spot.
FWIW, in the early 90s, they promoted 4 to the old First Division, and relegated 2, to change from 20 teams to 22 teams. That lasted a few years, then in 95(?) they relegated 4 and promoted 2 to go back to 20 teams. So this change of the promotion/relegation numbers has been done before. Not in the middle or the end of the season though.
But the problem with 22 teams next season is that it adds 4 games to an already crowded fixture list (most European countries only have one domestic cup, while England has 2, so they already play more than games than most).
It is going to be a mess to figure out whatever happens, probably a lot of lawsuits, etc.

Not sure if you're serious about Liverpool not seeing it out. The boys have been playing in a shit ton of tourneys up to that point and now a single focus would be on the league... I digress I think the 22 team expansion makes sense and I agree this will be an absolute shitttt show no matter what

I dont disagree that they weren't up to competing on multiple fronts like the great English teams of the past.
I suppose if you guys want to be given a trophy with an asterisk, yey you.

The MLS is back, July 8th... I mean its getting better so I'll tune in and yup 9am, 8pm and 1030pm
"54 matches, 26 teams, 6 groups, 1 champion
Major League Soccer returns to play with an all-new tournament with regular season points and a spot in 2021 Concacaf Champions League on the line.
Similar to a FIFA World Cup, the tournament will feature a continuous schedule of matches nearly every day, with games beginning at 9 am, 8 pm and 10:30 pm EST, with the majority of the matches to be played in the evening."

Re: Warning, this thread is for soccer (more like Travis and Matty Liverpool chat)
I like how MLS is doing it. Essentially making it a separate tournament, not the MLS 2020 champion (though the group games count toward the season and the winner gets the champions league berth...and they're planning on doing a more "normal" half season in the late summer/fall anyway). It is also smart of them to make it in the format of a summer international tournament, like the World Cup, Euros, Copa America, etc., that fans and players are so familiar with.
Inter Miami takes on Orlando City in the opening game to honor Florida hosting the event. Ok, whatever they want to say to market it, but it has some of the fans excited to be facing their biggest "rival"....some people have talked themselves into taking this completely manufactured rivalry pretty seriously.

I must have missed this post last month. Those were both great games.
If you or anyone ever wants to watch old games, check out footballia.net. It requires you to sign up to watch, but signing up is free. They have over 18,000 games dating back to the 50s, and you can browse by team, country, competition, or specific players.
I run it through the browser on my smart TV, to get the full screen experience.
Quality and languages vary, as these are all based on what people have uploaded.

So you guys Liverpool won the premier league today for the first time in 30 years. It’s kind of like if the tigers won the World Series..... except they were up 3-0 in the series and up 7-0 in game 4 in the 8th inning and then the game was delayed for three months.
