Haven't had a traffic ticket in 29 years and zero accidents thank you very much. I drive my 5 over the speed limit and I find I arrive to the destination within a minute or so of my friends that choose to speed. It's funny how it works.

Speed def contributes in many cases. The unbelievably terrible road conditions also play a role. Lots of other reasons in addition to speed, though, e.g. car/deer accidents, distracted driving, etc. And driving through NY state is ridiculously tedious because of the lower speed limits.

Only 17% of traffic accidents are caused by speeding. More accidents are caused by people going slower than the flow of traffic than faster than the flow of traffic.

I can only imagine how many accidents you've caused unknowingly because people have to break or swerve to avoid you.

Whether that ranking is true or not (they didn't vote a source, did they?), the fact remains that speeding is only the cause of 17%. Source: International Insurance Institute or something like that.

Also, if you drive 5 over, as you are now claiming, guess what? You are speeding. And if you're going 5 over in the left lane on the highway, you're a hazard to other drivers.

People don't speed as much in the left lane here. Cops strictly enforce it but you are right when you pass in the left lane you give it some gas to expedite getting around the truck.
