That puts us behind the competition. Our crystal baller should be on 25/8 because s/he's way ahead of everybody else.

Re: tOfficial MSU Football Recruiting Thread: Class of 2018
Comprehensive breakdown by 810 Spartan from elsewhere....we need that guy here.
I'll give a quick overview at what MSU is looking for in their 2018 class.
To begin, MSU isn't losing a whole lot with next years senior class, they're mainly losing depth (good or bad, take it how you want).
Position breakdown:
QB (1): Theo Day. He is for sure their guy. Tall, big arm, and a great leader. The staff absolutely loves his abilities.
They recently offered Jarren Williams, they really like him too. It would likely be first come, first serve between them.
RB (2): MSU potentially loses a lot after next year. Holmes is a senior and LJ will likely go early. That being said MSU can see the chance for early PT to RB recruits. The staff is looking to take two running backs in 2018. They are going to look for a traditional power back that MSU loves (like LJ/Le'Veon/Holmes). The second the staff will try to find that homerun threat that they were looking for in the end of the 2017 recruiting period.
The staff is very high on Elijah Collins, Ronnie Walker, and Johnny Adams early in the cycle. Other names will emerge soon.
WR (2): Samuel is looking for a few big tall wide receivers in the 2018 class. Surprisingly, Tommy Bush is VERY high on MSU. Samuel has been recruiting him for a long time and he really wants to come check out the campus. He's completely blown up, I wouldn't get my hopes up on him, but he says he loves MSU. They will continue to push for Blue Smith, Miles Battle, Kamryn Babb, and Brennan Eagles as well. They may also add a smaller and faster WR, but that's not a guarantee (depends on numbers).
A name to watch out for is Kory Taylor, he is getting close to an offer. Also watch out for: Shocky Jacques-Louis, Taj Mustapha, Brandon Gray, Meechi Harris, Tyquan Johnson, Kyle Phillips, and Ja'von Hicks.
TE (1, maybe 2): MSU doesn't lose a TE next year, but already have one locked up in Gillison. He was the top TE on their board and their lone TE offer. They love what he brings to the table. Size, speed, great hands, and is a solid blocker. They are still recruiting a few other TEs because if the numbers work out they'd like to add a second. Some of the guys are Matt Bjornson, TJ Banks, Anthony Torres, and Lee Payton.
OL (3-4): MSU is set to lose three OL next year, only one really having an impact is Brian Allen. Look for MSU to take two OTs for sure. Ryan Hayes is at the top of their board, MSU leads but his recruitment will be a battle. Antwuan Reed, Justin Johnson, and John Dirksen are both high on MSUs board as well. Andrew Todd, Darian Kinnard, Alexander Howie, and Michael Furtney are a just a few of the names to watch out for. MSU will most likely take one OG in 2018, a second could be added, depending on attrition. Not sure who sits at the top of their board at this position. They like Isaia, McCall, Scruggs, Scott, and Dumervil-Jean early in the process. Tyrone Sampson is someone I can definitely see MSU taking due to his position flexibility, he can play both Guard and Center at a high level.
DL (2-?): I expect this to be a small DL class for MSU as they are only set to lose one DE after next year. Next years group is going to be very young. I see them taking one DE and one DT (could take more DL with to attrition). Malik Vann is someone MSU loves. He's 6'2 245 of pure muscle. MSU feels he can play DE at a high level, or add weight and be a super athletic DT. Vann is a monster in the weight room, he's someone who can play day one. Nik Bonitto, Tyreke Smith, Parks Gissinger, Thomas Booker, and Chris Collins are a few guys MSU has a shot with and they they like at DE early.
Aeneas Hawkins is at the top of their board at DT, he's a stud. Look for him to get on campus soon. Other guys the like are Josh Walker, Tyler Friday, Tyler Linderbaum, and Cam Goode. Other names will emerge during the eval period at both positions.
LB (2): MSU is going to be losing two LBs next year (three with Reschke). I was told they will likely only take two LBs in 2018 though, one inside backer and one outside. DeAndre Square is at the top of their board, and they lead with him early on. Jaylan Franklin (who was just offered today) will most likely be an OLB, although he like Hayward from last year can play many positions. Dallas Gant and Chris Oats are others that they really like, they can offer early playing time to these guys which can be very appealing. Some other guys to watch are: Matt Harmon, Grayson Mann, Xavier Peters, Terrance Taylor, and NeVen Simington.
At ILB I don't see them landing anyone they have offered thus far. There are some guys who the staff is currently evaluating. Ben Wilson, Chase Kline, Jack Sanborn, Antwuan Johnson, Nick DeNucci, and Ed Warinner could all earn offers. I expect a few names to pop up come eval period at these two positions as well.
CB (2): MSU isn't scheduled to lose a CB next year, but they will likely take two in this years recruiting class. They got one of their top targets in Xavier Henderson. Much like Gillison, he was a guy they prioritized very early and they love his skill set. Xavier can also play Safety, but is coming in as a CB. Christian Jackson, Marquis Williams, and Jaruis Brents are all prospects who MSU has offered early and that they like a lot. Jackson is a very good possibility, his parents are MSU alums and he was born in EL. Houston Griffith is someone I can see MSU making a push on and they will keep recruiting Kalon Gervin. Some other names to watch out for are: Patrick Lupro, Donald Johnson, Jeremiah Wood, Elijah Ball, Tyrik Henderson, Judson Tallandier, Jaeveon Morton, Vincent Gray, Reese Taylor, Marcus Hooker and Jordan Miner.
S (1-2): MSU is going to look to take at least one Safety in 2018. Martinez is going to be gone due to graduation, Nicholson left early, and the third will be Lyke who could leave.
Michael Dowell is not an MSU lock, but I'd go all-in that he winds up a Spartan. MSU likes Dowell a lot, he can play both Safety and Corner at the next level but will come to MSU as a Safety. Wayne Jones is someone MSU offered early on and they really like. Some other kids MSU will recruit at safety are: Greg Newsome, Reggie Pearson Jr, Blake Underwood, Tyrese Ross, Julius Brents, and Paul Moala.
Athletes: There are some guys that MSU are recruiting that don't have one true position. Square can play both Safety and OLB, MSU likes him at OLB. Jaylen Mayfield can play both Guard and Tackle at the next level. Leonard Taylor can play all across the DL and TE, his potential is through the roof.
Next year MSU will look to sign somewhere around 15 to 18 kids, obviously depending on the amount of attrition. It should be a solid class, I don't see us landing all 4 star players, but each position will be well evaluated.
Last year was a huge wake up call for everyone, MSU had gotten caught up in the stars of recruiting and not taking kids who:
A. Wanted to be Spartans
B. Had a great work ethic on and off the field
C. We're great young men on and off the field.
This is why the staff said no to Lynn Bowden (who wanted to be a Spartan) late in the cycle, they saw what they had, they saw who he was and said we can't have anymore of this.
There will definitely be some players who are going to emerge starting during the eval period and during camps. It should be a very solid class, MSU is going to picky at each position and get guys they want.
If you have any questions feel free to ask and I'll try to answer as best I can!
Go Green!
