Re: Deer Hunting Thread #2
I was cleaning the house a bit tonight and happened upon an old trove of pictures. Most from the late 80s, it was fun looking through them. Found a couple of deer camp 1989, my Dad and I took my oldest and my nephew hunting near Trout Lake in the UP. Just a little old travel trailer, no generator - I must have been tougher then. The scary part is that my Dad is 7-8 years younger in these pics than I am now. The picture quality is terrible, they all were in a flood and some got damaged.
PS - My son would kill me if he saw me posting the outhouse shot. But I'm quite proud of my work there.

An article with the numbers - what hunters contribute vs non hunters for wildlife management in Michigan:
Opinion: Hunting is important for wildlife, Michigan's future
In fiscal year 2017, PR dollars accounted for about $20 million in wildlife-related work in Michigan, according to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Division 2017 Annual Report.
Hunting licenses purchased in Michigan are constitutionally restricted to be spent only on activities that benefit wildlife, wildlife habitat and wildlife management. For fiscal year 2017, license purchases contributed about $13 million for wildlife management in Michigan. The non-hunter-generated, nongame related revenues totaled about $285,000 in fiscal year 2017. Hunter-generated monies are paying for ALL wildlife species, not just those we harvest.

Poaching a deer and then bragging about it on Facebook is not the smart move....
Hunter's Facebook brag about 'monster' 13-point buck brings DNR to his door
Hunter's Facebook brag about 'monster' 13-point buck brings DNR to his door
LAPEER COUNTY, MI - When you go on Facebook to brag about a "monster" 13-point buck you just bagged and share pictures to show your hunting prowess, you might want to make sure you have all your paperwork in order.
Conservation Officers Jesse Curtis and Sgt. Todd Szyska did a little sleuthing, comparing the date and time of the man's Facebook post with the time he'd actually purchased his hunting license. They learned he'd bought his license after the photo was taken.

Or they could have opened it to bow hunters....for free....or sold licenses.

I saw two bald eagles feeding off a deer carcass out at Sleepy Hollow the other day. Where'd you leave them?

I had two almost as big on my deer cam a month or so ago. Latest pics are six does. Bought a Mossberg rifle that shoots 450 bushmaster to use in the south zone. I haven't been hunting for four or five years so I'll see how that goes.

Mother fuckers are everywhere. Dogs chase them 2-3 times a day. They keep coming back and simply don't GAF. Can I shoot them from my deck?

As long as your neighbors houses are 450 feet away from your deck you can shoot whatever you want to. A license might come in handy too if the DNR comes banging on your front door.
No person may hunt with a firearm within 450 feet of an occupied building, dwelling, house, residence or cabin, or any barn or other building used in connection with a farm operation, without obtaining the written permission of the owner, renter or occupant of the property. The safety zone applies to hunting only.

Just pulled the SD card from over the past few days. 4 distinct bucks. The big boy, another 8 point, a 4 point and a spike horn. We pressed cider the other day, so the scraps may have helped.

If you're talking the Sleazy EZ in Baldwin, then yes, that was the bastard. He was hitchhiking so I picked him up under the promise that he'd give me a joint afterward. Well, when we stopped at the Sleazy, he ran out through the back door. I chased that fucker until he hit some thick brush. If I see him again, he's dead on sight.
Just to spite the son of a bitch, I plan to smoke an oz while I dine on his delicious back straps.
Full disclosure: I just had my eyes dilated and can barely see my computer screen. I have the text enlarged enough for tGreenWay to read it.
