Most likely. IIRC, she’s the one who skipped going to police and went straight to a civil attorney who specializes in suing universities when a student claims rape.

Honestly, to have them continually defying court orders is shocking. But I guess if it is done to attack MSU and MD, then they don't care. Makes me wonder if Blackwell's team is even looking for a settlement or just to drag MSU through the mud as much as possible.

Considering the stromg UM football ties to the recently added lawyer, it makes the latter seem all the more likely. If so, I'm sure Blackwell is getting something out of it from whoever is funding the legal bills, regardless of the outcome of the suit.

In a contingent fee arrangement, the lawyer agrees to accept a fixed percentage (often one third) of the recovery, which is the amount finally paid to the client. If you win the case, the lawyer's fee comes out of the money awarded to you.

I don't think he has attorneys on retainer (or is paying them hourly), but I could be wrong. Maybe someone is funding it, like you said.

The first guy, maybe, was dumb enough to take the case on contingency for a case that is seemingly difficult, if not unwinnable.

But for this other guy who helped Shea Patterson get eligibility and just joined the case a couple of weeks ago, Which I believe was just before the claim of NCAA violations? I don't know, seems odd. But I suppose he could also be doing it for the publicity/attention, with an eye toward future business.

Helluva it is, Tom Mars, the lawyer who represented Shea Patterson when he sought (and got immediate eligibility) was named by the judge as all of Blackwell’s lawyers are being accused of leaks.

Like some of the rest of you, I have thought for sometime that other interested parties are funding Blackwell’s legal team. Given the willingness, almost eagerness Dantonio’s defense has been to get Blackwell on the stand and cross examined in court, backing Blackwell never looked like an investor opportunity.

Put that together of what DWags has told us about Blackwell’s scorched earth campaign including Blackwell enlisting his frat buddy coaching cabal in that campaign and it’s not beyond the realm there’s umaa Uber fan money involved.

There is a 1000000% chance the attorneys are working on contingency, as I've said before. They're kind of all in at this point. I'm sure they thought there would be a fairly early settlement. Blackwell's attorney keeps getting sanctioned because (1) he's a shitty attorney and (2) he's banking on this publicity getting him a lot of work in the future.

Like it or not, there are plenty of potential clients out there who will see his behavior as "sticking up for Blackwell against a corrupt justice system" or some other nonsense.

Extremely small. Unless you commit a felony or steal money from a client, it's nearly impossible to get disbarred in MI.

It's even worse because they had muckraker Ross Jones on the report, not a sports a guy, but an "investigator". I'm pretty sure Jones is a Spartan with an axe to grind.
