Not twitter NYT. Read on Newsweek Newt Gingrich wrote an article that’s a warning from Italy. He’s of op ion the US needs to go into wwii level production to combat this. New York is already doing this. Cuomo has all state labs moving towards testing, has hand sanitizer produced here.

Not to pick a nit, but Czechoslovakia was not over run by the Nazis in WW2 or the Soviets in the Cold War. Both took over without a fight (and the Nazis was before WW2 started). Even the 1968 invasion to quell the Prague uprising was only a couple of days and limited to certain areas.
It still kind of shows just how historical this is.

Re: Coronavirus?? We gone?
There are quite a few "what do" if you feel sick out there, so hopefully everyone has read them.
From the Oakland County website:
Monitor your health two times a day; every morning and night for 14 days
• Watch for symptoms: cough, difficulty breathing, sore throat, runny nose or a fever
• Write down any symptoms you experience • Take your temperature twice a day and write it down. Before you take your temperature:
o Wait 30 minutes after eating, drinking or exercising o Wait 6 hours after taking medicines that can lower your temperature: acetaminophen/paracetamol, ibuprofen or aspirin
o Clean thermometer with soap and water after use
If you have a fever of 100.4 F (38C), cough or trouble breathing:
• If this is a life threatening emergency call 911
• Call your doctor’s office or emergency department before seeking care and explain your symptoms and that you are self-monitoring
• Call (248) 858-1286 to alert Oakland County Health Division of your symptoms and that you are self-monitoring

Formatting on the above sucks. Bottom line, if you start to fell sick but are otherwise healthy/don't have high risk cinditions and aren't having trouble breathing, don't rush to the hospital. Save the hospital space for those that really need it.

If you are coming home from Europe and are lined up nuts to butts, boobs to backs, like you are riding in a crowded subway car at the airport waiting virus testing testing and results, hope and pray.
You have no clue who in the 6' radius around you might be infected.

Not sure that could be more poorly managed at the national level if we were trying. Impressive ineptitude.

Haven't had a thermometer in the house in years. Â Someone on a BBQ forum posted a thread asking if you could use a Thermapen (I have one) to take your temperature. Â Apparently you can...just have to be careful not to stab yourself under the tongue. ÂNordic wrote:There are quite a few "what do" if you feel sick out there, so hopefully everyone has read them.

Definitely not a thermometer you'd want to use rectally

It's smart. We should do the same. Just for a couple of weeks. People are too dumb and selfish to stay in when they need to. Delivery and takeout are still options right?

Re: Coronavirus?? We gone?
My buddy came back from a 10 day trip to Spain. He got back on Friday, walked straight out of the airport and took an uber home, no screening or questions. 8 hours later and they are screening. I went golfing with him, and we jokingly, non jokingly made him get his own cart and told him not to touch the pin or our golf balls. Now my wife doesn't want them coming to my daughters birthday party and I'm not sure I disagree with her. The day after they left Madrid, Madrid shut down.

Why are you still having the birthday party? Postponing it seems like the responsible thing to do.

Doing these type of things makes me feel better honestly. Not sure what more is to know - look at the countries ahead of us. That’s us soon. Sooner we can do things like this the better long term.

DeWine was promoting takeout and delivery, but how many are going to stay open to operate during the interim at 5% of demand? I'm not arguing against full stop, but a lot of those establishments might not reopen.

Ok, you tell an 8 year old that their birthday has been cancelled. She already knows we aren't going anywhere for her birthday, like we had planned. She wants to see her friends, it is natural. We will see what happens.Other Teams Pursuing That wrote:InTenSity wrote:My buddy came back from a 10 day trip to Spain. Maybe give her two parties. Celebrate with immediate family on her birthday, then a second one with friends a couple of weeks.

Re: Coronavirus?? We gone?
Its a very fluid situation. The invitations were sent out on Wednesday, before this got crazy. The problem is we have no idea if people will show up or not and we don't have their numbers in order to call them and tell them not to come. A few of her friends, sure, but not all of them.Floyd Robertson wrote:InTenSity wrote:

We are trying to just break her spirit one day at a time, rather than all at once.

Re: Coronavirus?? We gone?
My daughter's birthday is Tuesday, and while we didn't have a big party planned or anything, she's pretty bummed that we may not even be able to go out to eat. But she's 14 and really understands what is going on. But she's had several very major events/honors that were to take place this weekend, this coming week, and next weekend. Just crazy timing, so she's bummed for a lot if reasons.
For an 8 year old to not get the birthday attention at school, not have a party, etc., that's so much tougher.
We are trying to think of something fun to do with our daughter that doesn't involve crowds, but that is proving tough to come up with.

Take it from me a naturaly neurotic dude, I sign off and 100% endorse this message. I’m reaching out to all my loved ones every day and doing my best to lift spirits. My friends that own businesses I’m offering to buy gift certificates or find ways I can support. I am very emotional through this but I’m also going to be brave. I’m also staying in the house and just going for walks here and there. Stay safe and strong my friends.

More than a couple of my younger cousins are in meltdown mode. “How many people do you know that have it” “media blowing it out of proportion” “my 401k is getting destroyed” what’s making it worse it according to them the doctors they work with are saying it’s overblown. So of course they fall back on those “experts”. I mean they’re seriously getting mad when we discuss this.

Anyone concerned about their 401k call your rokerage and come up with a strategy for these times. You can allocate everything to very safe funds if you need to. It won’t be as volatile. You have to be proactive. Regarding the interest rate cuts we can refinance our mortgages and save our future selves a lot of money.
