That would be a nice problem to have. I'll worry about that when it happens. For now, the portal is definitely a plus for MSU.

I think he meant it’s good for the overall health of the sport which is true.
Also I’d be willing to bet it’s a net-positive for MSU and always will be. It’s a negative for the big schools like OSU, Michigan, Bama, etc who essentially “draft and stash” multiple 4 and 5 stars at single positions but for schools like MSU who frequently finish runner-up in these races it allows us a second shot with these players once the reality of their current situation has set in.

Right... this point of view is based on "the stick" being the main motivator. If you can't motivate them by making them miserable then they will never be great... Well, I suppose we are testing this theory from here on out.

Worker motivation studies consistently show that workers work harder trying to follow the "carrot" than they do when forced with the "stick" It is lazy and poor management which uses the "stick" as its main motivational tool.
