I’m content that posters are focusing on the quality of their posts instead of the quantity. I’d rather we have 15 hours off to consider new thread topics than to just throw whatever slop comes out of our face holes.

I had a little slop come out my mouth at 7:00 A.M. today. Not proud. But when you’ve been drinking a ton less and have been eating healthy I just found out your body starts rejecting The quantities of food and drink you once could handle.

Seems like sports wise it is the off season. An MSU golfer won the an amature championship yesterday over his good friend from UofM.

I'm in detox mode now too.
My husband and I had our first trip together (4 day weekend) since we've had both kids. We went to Madison to visit my best friend. We got into all kinds of mischief, with a shit ton of drinking. I think on Sunday, I was drinking from 9am - 2am. I probably put on 10 pounds, maybe more. Most of that being grade A cheese curds.

My body and liver hurt.

Made it one day. Monday. I don't keep booze in the house, because if it is there, I will drink it. Still a  couple bottles of bourbon and Malibu left over from the grad party.

Sometimes mind-blowing.  Dad & I were out fishing at the cottage on Portage Lake (Keweenaw).  Lake is about a mile wide where the cottage was on Bootjack Road.  We were out in the rowboat ~25 yards offshore using nightcrawlers near a good weed bed.  His line got snagged on something.  Tried to free it for a while but eventually gave up and snapped the line.  Was rerigging his line when I casted out.  I got snagged on something.  Managed to free it and reeled back in to check the bait.  Out of the water comes my leader, hook, and bait...with his leader, hook, and bait also on my hook!  Hook had gone through the loop on his leader.  Was completely bizarre.  Odds of that happening seem multiple times greater than winning Powerball.

I lost glasses in a rouge wave at Grand Haven state park knee deep with the kid... for shits I checked back a couple days later and someone found and returned them to the office. With the waves and undertow,etc. I thought they were gone for good.

Won a softball game today and I feel kinda bad about how it went. 

Here’s the thing first, we hadn’t won a game all year. I think that’s an important note here. We started the game as usual, we’re losing I believe 12-3. Then their pitcher completely lost his mind. He couldn’t throw a fucking strike to save his life. And I don’t mean he was missing by inches, he was like 5 feet off at times. I walked twice, fully intending to swing, but what happened both times is he’d throw the first one which was narrowly a ball so I skipped it, then the two more were so far off that I couldn’t hit it if I tried. We ended up winning 13-12, and there were a few hits in there but mostly walks. 

I hate that we won a fuckin beer league game like that, and it’s easy to say we should have swung more, but like when you’re actually at bat with two outs down by 5 and bases loaded (from walks) and he throws you something a mile off the plate, what can you really do about it? On the other hand they should have made someone, anyone, else pitch. We would have assumed they were at least semi competent and swung at some garbage probably.

Back in March '21 (I don't know the exact date, l don't have the receipt) I bought Gain liquid at Costco because it was like $7 less than my usual giant jug of Tide liquid. I went back to Tide when it was time to resupply, fuck the $7.

Find the Downy commercials interesting.  Couple of them feature women I find oddly attractive.  One sorta looks like Alyson Hannigan (American Pie).  Another looks sort of like an alien.  Find this one normal looking and quite attractive

My cat Casper (avatar pic) is diabetic. He has been in remission about a year, so no insulin since then. On Sunday, he suddenly was not doing well. I could at least get him to drink water if I brought it to him (he was severely dehydrated and lethargic). I got him to the vet first thing Monday morning. They were treating him for 2 hours there, and told me he needed to go to an ER vet. He needed to be on an IV for days and constant monitoring. The one that had availability was in Rochester so I took him immediately there. He obviously was no longer in remission, and went into diabetic ketoacidosis. I asked the vet what his chances were of making it, and having a "normal" life. Especially since he will be 14 next month. The vet told me about an 80% chance. I felt that I could go forward then with more treatment. We love this cat so damn much. My daughters love this cat so much, and he absolutely loves them. He loves cuddling, playing, being abused (girls can play rough and he loves it), and just being around both girls constantly. So we really want to do what we can to have him live as long as possible. When my girls noticed he wasn't around, and I said he was at the vet, they both lost it. They were crying hysterically and hoping he would he ok.

The vet thinks I might be able to pick him up late this evening. He's still not great, but can hopefully continue to bounce back safely at home. And back on his insulin treatment.

This is costing me around $4000. On and old diabetic cat. Ugh. I hope I am making the right decision. None of us want to let him go. And only because the chances were 80% of him making it and being stable, did I decide to do this. I so hope we can get a few more years out of him.

I'm guessing the money isn't coming out of basics for your human family, and so, yes you are making the right decision IMO.

Animal Emergency Center on Auburn just east of Rochester road?

I had to take my dog there at 6:30am on April 1st (no joke) to have her put to sleep after two days of horrific seizures and a trip to regular vet. The staff at AEC was the best.

Sorry to hear about Casper and the bill, though. Tough choice. Hope he gets better!

I mentioned in the other thread about my dog having surgery to remove a thyroid tumor about two weeks ago. He’s 9ish (rescue, we don’t really know his exact age but 9 is a solid guess) so he should have a few good years but eventually the tumor will return and that will probably be that. It was the right call, in all probably cost around 5000-6000. Which, we actually expected that to be higher, I think we were confused about how much they were actually charging. When I picked him up I was expecting them to say that the balance due was at least a few thousand. She said “$640” so I asked absolutely no questions, not wanting to poke the bear on this little treat, and handed her my card as quickly as possible before she could do a taksy backsy.

Yes, he's at AEC. I've been told it's an amazing place. I do know someone who is a LVT there.

While our bills will be paid, this is a tough pinch. We've had multiple unexpected big expenses the past few months. So it's a punch in the gut.
I truly hope we get a few more years out of him. He's such a cool cat.
Now my other 2 cats....They're "special." I don't think I've had cats as dumb as them before.

Tomorrow is our IT manager's last day.  Got a better offer...I didn't ask where.  He started during the pandemic and has done a great job IMO.  Instituted good policy and tightened up security.

Was leaving today and our receptionist mentioned there is a pizza party at lunch tomorrow to send him off.  Said it's from Holiday Pizza and she'd never had it.  I chuckled. She asked why.  Told her their pizza is very good...it is.  Then told her Holiday catered a Christmas luncheon few years back and someone found a cockroach in the mostacciolli.
