Their real goal is to stop real elections so they have a permanent majority in Congress, Senate and let any GOP incumbent President leave office when they feel like it.

In other words, they're scared shitless that Trump will endorse someone other than them.
This!
The crazies are in charge of the Michigan Republician Party and have changed the rules as to how candidates are selected. These Congress people have to get with the program or be replaced as a candidate.
Re: The 2024 US House & Senate (& Presidential Election) and the Michigan Legislature - Who do you Think Wins?
mainstream media coverage of the christian patriots in the Michigan GOP.. sounds like all is going well in the party who has surrendered everything to an anti-America racist, christian bigot who has been charged with 70+ felonies.
explains why republican/libertarians get mad and leave message boards due to criticism of their party, why they create multiple screen names on some dumb message board just to try to distract from their politics, etc.
anyway.. this is a pretty funny 5 minutes of mainstream media coverage (shout out to them for shining a light on the GOP dysfunction and violence. They should do that more often).

As Jimmy Carter said:
“It [Citizens United] violates the essence of what made America a great country in its political system. Now it’s just an oligarchy, with unlimited political bribery being the essence of getting the nominations for president or to elect the president.…
“So now we’ve just seen a complete subversion of our political system as a payoff to major contributors, who want and expect and sometimes get favors for themselves after the election’s over.”

These have been the goals of the Republican Party for the last 60 years but most voters aren't paying attention.
A one Party dictatorship with the 99% without any power and the Bill of Rights eliminated.
Now they have the courts held tightly in their control it is only a question of how long it takes. George Wahington was the father of our country, Mitchel McConnell is its hangman.
Re: The 2024 US House & Senate (& Presidential Election) and the Michigan Legislature - Who do you Think Wins?
As noted above, the Republicans want to destroy the current systems of democracy liberal government for a "winner takes all" conservative form of government for elections. For a party which derides government as "the problem" this is the peak of hypocrisy.
Greene incorrectly called this program “socialism,” which in fact means government ownership of production, as opposed to the government’s provision of benefits people cannot provide individually, a concept first put into practice in the United States by Abraham Lincoln and later expanded by leadership in both parties. The administration has stood firmly behind the idea—shared by LBJ and FDR, and also by Republicans Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, and Dwight Eisenhower, among others—that investing in programs that enable working people to prosper is the best way to strengthen the economy.
Certainly, Greene’s speech didn’t seem to be the “gotcha” that she apparently hoped. A March 2023 poll by independent health policy pollster KFF, for example, found that 80% of Americans like Social Security, 81% like Medicare, and 76% like Medicaid, a large majority of members of all political parties.

Re: The 2024 US House & Senate (& Presidential Election) and the Michigan Legislature - Who do you Think Wins?
During a press event in Detroit on Monday, former U.S. Rep. Gabby Giffords (D-Ariz.) announced that she is endorsing U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-Lansing) for U.S. Senate in Michigan in 2024.
“Elissa has the unwavering commitment needed to address the epidemic of gun violence our country faces,” Giffords said. “Having grown up around firearms and worked in national security, she understands that we can respect the rights of gun owners while supporting the common sense reforms needed to keep our families safe.
“In the shadow of tragedies like the shootings at Oxford High School and Michigan State University, she’s put the safety of Michiganders first and worked to pass meaningful gun safety laws. With our gun safety majority in the Senate on the line next fall, we must elect leaders who understand the urgency of this issue — starting with my friend, Elissa. I am proud to endorse her today.”
Re: The 2024 US House & Senate (& Presidential Election) and the Michigan Legislature - Who do you Think Wins?
It’s easy to envision the 2024 presidential election becoming the third straight contest in which a veteran Democrat goes up against Donald Trump. Once again, the Democrat wins the popular vote but swing states are tighter. Could go either way — and has, right?
But things are very different this time, and here’s why: The candidates might not be changing — but the electorate has.
Every year, about 4 million Americans turn 18 and gain the right to vote. In the eight years between the 2016 and 2024 elections, that’s 32 million new eligible voters.
Also every year, 2½ million older Americans die. So in the same eight years, that’s as many as 20 million fewer older voters.

You also have to consider motivation. This blurb paints a decidedly one direction trend but that has seemingly been the case for millenials too, which are now older and started voting in the early 00s. Some how, republicans have made up for the strong trends against them. Its a lot of factors but i think the prevailing theory is that radical right wingers are far more motivated to impose their ideology on those that don't agree with them so they come out at a much higher percentage. And isnt there some data out there showing how people tend to switch sides as they age? You would need to factor that in potentially if it's substantial. Millennial are aging and may be joining the Republicans. I have no idea why they would do that but none the less it's worth a look. Basically the blurb is accounting for only the positives for democrats and not looking at the offsetting movement in the other direction. I have no doubt in general the electorate is moving left but it is by no means a shoe in. It's close enough where things like turnout can matter. Even though Biden destroyed Trump in the popular vote, it was not a landslide victory.

and while I'm optimistic by the numbers, it's always difficult to factor in the absolute stupidity of America as a country.

So, your opinion is not counted, however polling is much more than just calling a bunch of people and asking for their opinions. In general, they gather enough information to create what they believe is a creditable cross section of all points of view to create the results.

12% undecided for the Biden / Trump race verses 22% to 17% undecided for the Senate.

The Democratic Party had one of the most productive Congresses in the last 40 years with the 117th. Did a bunch of stuff for "the People". Sort of a political miracle given they only had a shaky 50 votes in the Senate.
Re: The 2024 US House & Senate (& Presidential Election) and the Michigan Legislature - Who do you Think Wins?
President Biden's campaign — racing Republicans to identify persuadable 2024 voters — is leaning into a recently developed database that includes contact information for 90% of U.S. voters, gleaned from 500 organizations during the past decade.
Why it matters: It's the latest chapter in the information wars between Democrats and Republicans, as both parties scramble for a technological edge in a divided nation where elections often are decided by razor-thin margins.
Very much "inside baseball" reporting, relating to how the Parties are fine tuning their campaigns to reach their voters.
Re: The 2024 US House & Senate (& Presidential Election) and the Michigan Legislature - Who do you Think Wins?
So with wall to wall Trump coverage is Biden's "just the facts" campaign going to work?
Re: The 2024 US House & Senate (& Presidential Election) and the Michigan Legislature - Who do you Think Wins?
According to the LA Times (paywall). CA Governor Newsome may have an insider out for the state's Feinstein problem and Biden's polling by appointing Kamala Harris to replace Feinstein and Biden gets a new running mate for 2024.
Sounds crazy but no crazier than watching Trumpites and his media sycophants refer to 80 year old President Biden as "Sleepy Joe" while 77 year old Trump rants on social media and rallies about his mythical 2020 loss.

Maybe the issue would be that he is still alive…. Does he become the Feinstein of the Oval Office and do irreparable damage to the party in 2028? There are some middle aged viable 2028 democrats out there. They need to play a huge role in 2024 and maybe give America some confidence that the roster is deep.

Academic work in how different beliefs cause humans to look to specific sources for "the truth" have shown that Conservatives tend to be looking for an authoritarian to tell them the truth. When looking at the fact than many Conservatives are also members of religions which have a "God" which tells them what to believe this makes sense.

It's funny you mention that. I was out riding yesterday. Between Shelby Twp, Utica, Sterling Heights and Rochester I noticed dozens of sidewalk repair projects. I thought to myself, I know where all that money came from. Then I thought, my republican-controlled township board is surely taking credit for the improvements in my own municipality.
BTW, I rode that to Metro Beach in May and it needs the work.
