of the 22 starters that will be rockin' the green and white next August 31st when we line up against Florida Atlantic, how many of those 22 players are not currently on the MSU roster?

man, I don't know, but I'm guessing as many as 15-16?

Every July they should line up all the D1 players and the coaches can play a giant round of Rock-Paper-Scissors-Lizard-Spock and then pick players. When a team visits another stadium (like a Bolshoi ballet visit to NYC circa 1975) players can defect at halftime.

Every July they should line up all the D1 players and the coaches can play a giant round of Rock-Paper-Scissors-Lizard-Spock and then pick players.  When a team visits another stadium (like a Bolshoi ballet visit to NYC circa 1975) players can defect at halftime.

 

or we could put each highly rated portal prospect in a car going 90 mph..  line them up on I-75 as they're approaching Spaghetti Junction just north of downtown Atlanta with no road signs to indicate destination and just say "good luck with your decision".

Travis mentioned this in another post and it is an interesting question. Will we see teams start to opt out? Just gonna play your freshies? Once the 12-team playoff starts, will anyone GAF about the bowls (and by anyone I mean the broadcasting rights).

The portal/NIL is a mess right now. Everyone is looking for NIL money that doesn't really exist (except for high end players/schools). Agents trying to get their hands in it. I gotta imagine water will find it's level at some point.

Sidebar, there is another anti-trust lawsuit going through right now that targets the 1-time transfer rule as being illegal. If it passes, then kids will be able to transfer at will. And odds are that it will pass. This is all just beating around the bush of the schools not paying athletes as employees (another can of worms).

It's going to be a bumpy ride for college sports for the next few years.
