Watching American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez on FX. it’s really good. They casted some good fits for characters.

Woman of the Hour, about the Dating Game killer in the ‘70s, is good. It’s creepy and suspenseful with some excellent performances. It’s on Netflix.

The Gentlemen, created by Guy Ritchie. Outstanding series. Can’t remember who recommended it, but finally got around to watching. Three episodes in and each is like a 60 minute movie. Ritchie is a special talent whether it’s writing, directing, or producing.
Edit: If you’ve never seen the film, that’s great, too.

Probably wasn't me, or maybe it was. Either way, it's very good.
I'm 1/3 into season 2 of The Diplomat and I'm loving it as much as I did season 1. Or maybe it's just that Keri Russell is in it.

Diplomat season 1 was pretty awesome. You can't post when its on as I remember, it's smart and quick and you need to pay attention... On my short list for season 2. Just started "Only murders" season 4.
Gentlemen was good too. I probably posted it... I didn't even know there was a movie until it was hashed over here.

I really enjoy The Diplomat. Kerri Russel is great. I also like the actor that plays her husband (the main Nazi from Man In The High Castle).Floyd Robertson wrote:tGreenWay wrote:The Gentlemen, created by Guy Ritchie. Outstanding series. FWIW, FreeVee also has a show called the Diplomat. I think it's a British series, but I haven't watched it.

I noticed that when looking at IMDB after Floyd mentioned the Diplomat. I’m interested in the British version now, too. They seem to be different storylines.

Season 4 is good. My wife especially liked it. I’m still sweet on season 1 when it was a small, simple, unknown production, but season 4, which has a much larger cast, is good, too. I can even tolerate Selena’s nasally voice, but that might be out of admiration for her business acumen and success in dealing with personal demons.

Not to mention lupus and a kidney transplant. I watched her auto-biographical movie on Apple TV and got reading up on her, and yeah, I admire the heck out of her. Supposedly she's getting some Oscar buzz for a film coming out, too.tGreenWay wrote:AvgMSUJoe wrote:Diplomat season 1 was pretty awesome. Of course I watched like a lemming. It was Tyson fergodsake. Kudos to Paul for getting him the ring so I could watch him one more time.i did enjoy that aspect.
But that fight was a dud. I wasn’t expecting much. Was hoping someone would land a good shot (hopefully Tyson). Nothing. Tyson didn’t have any legs and Paul really couldn’t hit him. Tyson is a pro and can still defend with his hands and bob his upper body.
Paul cashed in. Kudos. But I suspect this is his last big boxing payday/draw. No one wants to see this shit. Also not good for boxing in general, which was already dead. That fight, with all the hype, didn’t help.

From the streaming issues to the fighting itself, twitter is a blaze (sometimes it’s good for something).

Re: Bump when you find something good to stream from Netflix or Amazon or whatever
To Netflix's credit, the buffering issues went away, at least for me, late in the women's fight and never a blip during the main event. Must have woken up some extra hamsters to run on the wheels and generate power.
As Nordy said, I liked the nostalgia of seeing Tyson again. But the fight wasn't a fight. Especially once Tyson was visibly tired and his legs gone (around the 3rd round), it seemed like Paul stopped trying much. I think it was the 4th or 5th round that Paul had 17 punches thrown and 3 landed. Other rounds after that had a little more, but we're still light.
Ah well, the Barrios-Ramos and Serrano-Taylor fights were good.

No buffering issues for me. I only watched on my phone though. Looks like people were having issues on their 4k tvs. And I think it was the undercards like you said.
Paul’s hands were getting tired from the heavy gloves about midway. He was dropping/shaking out his hands. I think he knew not to stick his nose in and give Tyson a chance so he kept his distance. They fight total shit after that. Tyson couldn’t catch him. Paul couldn’t hit him.
If I was Tyson. I woulda tried to lure him in. Take a shot, back to the ropes, lure him in, flip him and fuck button shot. Paul was leaving himself exposed on his throws. A legit boxer KOs his ass pretty easy.

Say Nothing on Hulu is a 9-part docudrama on the multi-decades fight in Northern Ireland to get rid of British rule. Based on a true story, it looks at a few of the players and the disappearance of a widowed mother of ten. I’ve seen 3 episodes so far and really enjoying it. I’ve also figured out one key piece to the story, or I think I have.
Signed,
Detective GreenWay
Write-up from IMDB:
Spanning four tumultuous decades during The Troubles in Northern Ireland.
The shocking disappearance of Jean McConville, a single mother of ten who was abducted from her home in 1972 and never seen alive again. But McConville was only one of many others who became known collectively as The Disappeared. Through the eyes of various IRA members, including sisters Dolours and Marian Price, young women who transformed into magnetic symbols of radical politics, Brendan Hughes, a tight-lipped but conflicted military strategist, and Gerry Adams, a savvy political operator who would go on to negotiate peace but ultimately deny his involvement with the IRA, Say Nothing unpacks the extremes some people will go to within a civil rights movement as they pursue their ideals, the mystery surrounding The Disappeared, the cost of silence, and the way society mends or doesn't after a long and bloody conflict.

Re: Bump when you find something good to stream from Netflix or Amazon or whatever
Yellowstone came back last week for the second half of the 6th season....after almost 2 years since the first half of the season ended. Why even call it part of the same season? I feel they really hurt themselves. There really doesn't seem to have been the buzz that a show of its popularity should have had.
But sticking with the theme, Territory on Netflix is pretty good. It's basically an Australian version of Yellowstone (mega-ranchers, family drama, sinister groups after their land, etc.....but without Kevin Costner waxing philosophical about days gone by every episode).

When a TV series star lets the ego go unchecked and puts himself or herself above the show, the series is doomed. See Cybill Shepherd and Mandy Patinkin.

Just finished the Diplomat... very good. Only 6 episodes though. Season 3 sets up nicely. Janey is always good. And that show has conversations under conversations which you have to pay attention to. Tulsa King? Anyone?
First couple of episodes I couldn't tell if it was good, bad, cheesy or serious. I'm going with a combo of all of them. But holy shit S1 E5 Token Joe . Ray Donovan vibes.

Tulsa King is pretty fun. You are spot on that at times you aren't sure whether it is a comedy or a drama or a mob series. The episodes where Dwight gets stoned in the van and rambles are either comedic genius and Stallone is a better actor than I ever gave him credit for or they are legit getting Sly high and recording him on the down low.
The Season 1 Finale got a little too scripted OK Corral for me but Season 2 has rebounded nicely.
