For a beginner with one summer of practice under his belt?
Meant to multi-quote the three of yas.... appreciate all the responses. I've been itching to get into hunting for going on 4 or 5 years now.

6 hour hunt this morning, only deer were the ones I jumped on the way to my stand.
2.5 hour evening hunt. Whacked a squirrel on the way to stand. Whacked a big raccoon right at dark.

So..... You don't care what's better for the animal, just what hurt your lady parts to see. People like you need to visit a slaughter house. Your prepackaged meat is lulling you into thinking there isn't a "gross" part involved in food production.
That makes YOU the douche.

Re: Swill Deer Hunting Thread.
3 hour hunt this morning before church.
Had a momma and baby walk right under me. Momma was a nice fat doe but the baby looked young. If they had another with them I would have slammed the momma. She was eating acorns 15 ft from my tree.
Then someone fired up a chainsaw on the property next to ours. Seriously, who starts cutting wood at 8:45am on a Sunday.

I hunt you cock gobbler. What's gross is that somebody thinks an exploding deer head is cool.

You also don't believe in evolution so hopefully people don't put too much stake in what you believe.

I am confused. Are you still talking about hunting?LoneWolfSparty wrote:
Yes. The best is more tender too. The younger the doe, the better the meat. Not that old does and bucks aren't good, just not as good

Well that's not exactly true... A friend of mine bow hunts for deer from a stand on private land. So it happens. I'm terrible with a bow. We use blinds or stalk.

If you're moving back to Michigan, the Shotgun Zone is dead. It's now a "limited firearm zone" which includes straight-sided center fire cartridges .35 caliber and over. Think rifles chambered in handgun calibers. .44 magnum, .45 long colt, .450 Bushmaster, etc. Range is extended considerably over a shotgun.

Re: Swill Deer Hunting Thread.
Put down a doe tonight with a through and through Rage 2 blade shot. Holy hell are those things redic.... Quartering toward me, I put it through the front left quarter panel, and it exited, taking about a pound of small intestine with it out the right rear quarter panel. Deer went maybe 60 yards tops.
One down, four to go....

Pardon the POS pick em up truck. It is a hill billy friend of mines who was kind enough to help me haul it out and take it to the place I'm getting it whittled up at. And, yes, I'm an able bodied 43 year old who uses a crossbow because, why the fuck not?

I've got 5 tags, so I'm not going to be super picky until I get another one or two filled.... Coincidentally, this one died 50 feet away from the back yard of an actual German Shepard who probably outweighs it.

Congrats sir. Had a gang of turkeys in front of me tonight. And a spike (we do QDMA). Later another raccoon came into bow range and is now dead. We have way too many critters in this property.

Re: Swill Deer Hunting Thread.
Thanks Bee.... We are now in an APR area (last year being the first year), so I can't shoot anything under 3 on a side unless it is bald, so.....
I'm prolly going to give my area some rest for the next week or so. Not just because I just shot one, but my two 4 year olds are driving my wife nuts and I need to do some babysittin so she doesn't put them on a buck pole.

Good to know. Any particular reason why that rule was changed? To make it easier?

Yeah, I went back and forth on it. Kind of cool, kind of felt like it's something you see take pictures of and let it be.
