Re: Craft beer
Thanks, Pantry. Hopslam is about the only craft beer I’ve had in the past three-ish years. tbh, my interest still hasn’t come back to where it was when Goodrich’s was open. Those guys knew what I liked and made recommendations so I didn’t have to waste money with stuff I didn’t like.

thank you, nigel.
It's cool. I guess we all stereotype people from time to time.

Thanks for the rec. That might be heavier than I usually go for. My beer tastes are weird in that they don’t match my overall tastes. I like bourbon and coffee, yet I’m not a big fan of either flavor in my beer. I’ll bet I could keep your beer guy at Buscemis hopping.

I like my life less complicated. Cable tv so I don’t have to figure streaming out. Bud light so I don’t have to look around in beer caves at stores black coffee from 7/11 so I don’t have to learn Italian or French to order.
I'm a simple dude. Never streamed a show or music. Never downloaded a song. I wouldn't know how to call an Uber if I had to.
I don't need much and I plan on keeping it that way.

picked up a 6 pack of the Up North Ski Pole Winter Porter.
It has notes of well-tailored khaki pants and a hint of that new SUV smell. The finish is a warm, exclusive ski lodge bedazzled in polished mahogany and cozy leather furniture.
Pairs well with a ski weekend and a crackling fire place.

Yeah but you wake up feeling like you slept in a too-tight stocking cap and haven't showered after a day of black diamonds with broken bindings.

true story forthcoming:
a buddy hooked me up with an Uberon (not to be confused with an Oberon) yesterday at Crunchy's. Wasn't bad.. but I went back to Labbatt Blues afterwards.

Hit the local beer cave today and it caught my eye.
Picked up an 18 pack of red, white, and blue PBR for the 4th weekend in honor of Bob's pseudo patriotism

Took my Weber Jumbo Joe to son's house a few weeks ago and grilled salmon. Oberon was the only beer in the fridge. Still don't understand fascination with the stuff. It's not that good. PBR is better.AvgMSUJoe wrote:God bless you Bob... and God bless the united states of America.Robert J Sakimano wrote:Had two Labatt Blue Lights and a splash of Old Forester while cooking a steak in my cast iron skillet.

Re: Craft beer
Went to Nino Salvaggio's for the first time in 3-4 years this afternoon. Went to get decent quality meat to try out on the Ninja Woodfire, which arrived earlier than anticipated.
Took a stroll down the beer aisle and spotted half dozen cases of Hopslam. WTF? Its shelf life is only 3 months. Checked the date on a 6-pack. 10-11-22. Had no idea they'd started brewing it year round. Also weird Nino's had it when I'd not seen it at the beer store I frequent.

It’s still a limited release, but October is the new release date for Hopslam, not January. I checked last week because I was bummed I’d missed the January drop. I first looked at the socials of a couple of out of town friends I know would post pics of their first pours of the new batch. They had nothing, so I googled it and that’s when I learned of the change.

This is otherwise a decent brewery, but beer capsules? sounds bizarre, like beer flavored Alka Seltzer? https://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/2023/04/masthead-brewing-co-to-shift-focus-produce-beer-capsules.html

at home I've been drinking more 0 sugar seltzers supplemented with a shot of tequila. Or just bourbon poured neat. When I go out, I'll have a beer or two, but that's it.

I've got two or three four packs of KBS in the back of a cupboard somewhere and who knows what else laying around. After my second mini stroke I decided it wasn't really worth it to keep drinking.

I’m assuming your on meds now, but if not, a glass of red wine a couple times/week might actually be helpful.
