So was I (Pete). They (other candidates) didn't get enough votes to beat Biden. So whats your solution? There were socialist, progressive, moderate, moderate hawks, and businessmen running. The moderate won. Better to have a seat at the table and a voice in the discussion than jumping rope by yourself. I think you'll see Biden include some of the ideas Bernie floated. Hell we just printed about 3 trillion dollars, so why not.

Yep, it's one thing to go to a rally it's another to actually register and vote. Anecdotal evidence but in 2016 I knew multiple friends that were die hard Sanders fans that couldn't be bothered to vote for him in the primary. It's so hard to get through the simple idea that in order to have bargaining power you have to be a reliable voting block. Also, if 25% of your movement is going to go off in November and vote for Jill Stein or Trump well that just hurts the bargaining power.

Pylon nailed it. Biden is still sane enough to surround himself with competent and critical thinkers. He's not gonna hire a bunch of yes men and women. You never know though, maybe he has a real estate investor son in law who would make a great pandemic response guru.

It doesn’t matter what is socialism and isn’t socialism and who is or isn’t whatever they are. It was clear that one of Bernie's weak points was how he he would pay for some of his programs. It's not unreasonable to assume that he was more susceptible to the 'socialist' attack than more of the other candidates and that it would be effective with the moderate independents that you need to win the battle ground states.

At the time the other moderates got their marching orders to drop out and consolidate around Joe, he was not in the lead. The other moderates could have had a path, but they were more concerned about making sure Bernie didn't win. I don't remember the exact delegate counts, but I think Pete was close to Biden, perhaps even slightly ahead of him.

Really, I blame Jim Clyburn for this whole thing.
