Michigan State football coach Mel Tucker is the subject of an ongoing sexual harassment investigation of a woman who is a former rape survivor and activist, according to a report published early Sunday morning by USA TODAY.

There are conflicting accounts in the report, in which Tracy says she was not interested in a romantic relationship while Tucker told a Title IX investigator they had consensual phone sex.

“Ms. Tracy’s distortion of our mutually consensual and intimate relationship into allegations of sexual exploitation has really affected me,” Tucker wrote in a letter to a Title IX investigator in March, according to the report. “I am not proud of my judgment and I am having difficulty forgiving myself for getting into this situation, but I did not engage in misconduct by any definition.”

The USA TODAY report says Michigan State hired an outside Title IX lawyer to look into Tracy’s complaint and the investigation was completed in July with a formal hearing scheduled for October during a bye week for the Spartans.

He wrote that. He gave it some thought and that's what he decided he had learned. This won't end well for Mel.

The only solution from where I sit on the outside looking in is a suspension followed by Tucker's release.

Today AD Haller will probably start facing some tough decisions including some awkward conversations with Matt Ishbia, Stephen St Andre and other major donors on how MSU extricates itself from its contract caused by the poor decisions by football coach they personally pledged millions and tied their reputations to their alma mater.

Tucker should have known better and I have sympathy for his sons and wife having to face their family and friends after Mel's one sided "relationship" has become public.

Hopefully the next coach will have a better handle on the fact that MSU is always under the microscope. The university, its athletic department, AD and coaches will/should always be held to a high standard and won't get the kid gloves treatment like umaa and Ohio State appear to receive nationally.
