The best +/- of any player so far in the playoffs, and as soon as he left the court in the second quarter, the Warriors' lead started to shrink.

Great game by him, but a rough patch down the stretch. Asking him to guard Griffin isn't really realistic though,

He was too risky of a pick for the first round though, checkered background, questionable drive, suspect basketball IQ, and no demonstrable leadership skills.

I thought either or both of his last two fouls could have been called on Harrison Barnes instead. Wouldn't have changed the outcome of the game probably, but it was still a bummer to see Draymond foul out when he was playing so well.

Green will probably never be a star because the NBA only markets big time scorers, but he's one of those guys who has earned the respect of his peers, coaches, analysts, and fans who know the game. He's going to earn a great living in the NBA and will be set up very well for whatever he wants to do after he retires.

Green came in second for DPOY.

Green comes in 2nd.

Leonard received 37 first-place votes, 41 for second and 25 for third and a total of 333 points. Green actually had more first-place votes with 45, but appeared on fewer ballots with 25 second-place votes and 17 for third and a total of 317 points.

This article isn't about Green in particular, but he's used as an example. Its a little long, but decent. Grantland article

Draymond Green remembers Indiana trying to defend him with Victor Oladipo, a guard, during one college game. “I mean, come on,” Green says with a laugh. “You’re not gonna guard me with Victor Oladipo. I took him right to the block and scored like eight straight.”

Green hasn’t used those skills much in the NBA, but he hasn’t let them atrophy, either, and they came in handy during the first four games of the conference finals. Stephen Curry is a basketball panic attack — a one-man game-plan eraser. With time to scout, postseason opponents break out nutty strategies to contain him, and the Rockets have spent much of the conference finals switching every Curry pick-and-roll. It’s a simple adjustment, easy to digest on the fly, that keeps a body in front of Curry — even if that body is a lumbering big man who can’t track Curry’s twitchy drives.

Switching a Curry-Green pick-and-roll also leaves a smaller player to deal with Green on the block. Green attempted just 23 shots out of post-ups all season, but he has gone 5-of-13 already in four games against the Rockets, per Synergy. That’s not good, but it would look much tidier had Green resisted a lazy jumper over Jason Terry and some one-on-one battles against Smith — his physical equal.

Give it up for Ken Flowers, the Detroit Henry Ford boys basketball coach who was leading Detroit Redford on March 24, 2007, when he said something quite peculiar about Draymond Green.

"He's gonna be a pro some day," Flowers said at Breslin Center, to a room full of non-believers, after Green had 27 points, eight assists and seven rebounds for Saginaw High in a 79-57 rout of Manny Harris and the Huskies in the Class A state title game.

Breslin saw a versatile, effective, 6-foot-6 junior forward that day, but also a pudgy, middling recruit who lacked an offer from his dream school, Michigan State. Tubby Smith had left Kentucky to take the Minnesota job one day earlier, reopening Green's recruitment and giving Tom Izzo another chance to consider luring him.

Three months and three days later, on the same day Green announced his choice of MSU over Michigan and Indiana, the Ann Arbor News ran a story anonymously quoting several Division I coaches about Green's college potential. They were "generally skeptical" he'd be a top-notch player, the News wrote, with one predicting he would transfer to a lower-level school within two years.
