How do you guys remember this shit? Can I get a link to the quote that Trice didn't know UNC was storied? That seems pretty unbelievable.

I'm not sure what blanch is remembering, but I think Trice realized UNC was storied. He didn't realize how much Roy had beaten Izzo and how much the game meant to Izzo until after it was over, though.

Trice grew emotional when told of how Williams has dominated his head coach.

"I knew we've struggled and lost to them, and Coach Izzo had lost a couple times,'' Trice said. "I didn't know it was like that, that's definitely got to hurt him. That's on us. We let coach down tonight, we know how big game this was to not only us but to him.''

Spot on break down of the Cavs defense and what they are doing to stifle the Warriors.

This is high praise -

Pursuit of perfection: Jerry West's fire burns as deep as ever with Warriors

But greatness is still greatness, and West is particularly fond of players who, in their approach and bearing, are reminiscent of, well, him (though he’d never put it that way). He loves Tim Duncan, (“If you were coming into the league and you asked who to model yourself after, it would be Duncan”), and Curry (“There is no better person than him. How grounded, how understated. That really wears well in the locker room”). And then there is Draymond Green. West loves Green. “He represents what a basketball player should truly be,” says West. “He’s got the spirit, the enthusiasm. You’re going to have to kill him to beat him.” West sits up, excited. “If you watch him enough, you’re kind of captivated by what he is on the court. You don’t have to say, help out. He’s there. He anticipates. Then he gets the ball and pushes it. How many guys on our team push the ball?”

Green's mom and grandma said that Green looked like a punk for complaining to the officials so much. I noticed yesterday he didn't say anything to them, and didn't get all pouty after getting called for a foul.

Actually just found the quote.

Q. Was it a concerted effort on your part going into the game that you weren't going to talk to the officials as much tonight?

GREEN: You noticed that? (Laughing). My mom and my grandma told me I'm crying too much. Leave the officials alone and just play. They got you out there looking like you're a punk and don't know how to play basketball.

When you sit back and watch, that's what I was doing. And the fact that you asked me that question even further lets me know that that's what I was doing.

So I just told myself, I'm going to come out and play and whatever happens, happens. Don't argue the call. It's not getting overturned, so why continue to argue and waste energy on that? I spend enough energy dealing with these guys. Don't really have time to try to argue with the officials and all that stuff.

So I just wanted to come out and really focus on the game, the task at hand, and focus on helping my team. That kind of helped me out a lot tonight.

The heart, toughness and fight of Draymond Green has the Warriors on the verge of a championship

In Draymond Green’s mind, he was ready. The difference in size didn’t foster an ounce of doubt. So he was always calling “next.”

But the big boys at the Civitan Recreation Center, in his hometown ofSaginaw, Michigan, weren’t about to give up a precious spot to a youngster.

“He was that kid that, when the older kids were on the court, he was always trying to get out there with us,” said Arizona Cardinals linebacker LaMarr Woodley, one of the big kids at Civitan back then. “And when we would kick him off the court, he’d want to fight. But it was like, ‘C’mon little guy. Don’t nobody wanna fight you.’ ”

Even back then, you just weren’t going to punk Green.

He wouldn’t let it go. He kept talking trash, calling them out for being scared to let him play. When the new game started, he’d stand on the court and dare someone to make him get off.

“They would get so upset with him,” said his mom, Mary Babers-Green. “When he called his ‘next’ he wanted his ‘next.’ But he was too little to get ‘next.’ So they would try to stop him from playing. They would put him in the trashcan, put him on the rim. I would have to come and turn the recreation center out.”
