Agreed. The funniest part for me was that you were banned and that asshat Rogue Leader was allowed to stay on there and attack people all day everyday.

Can't say I've officially left tRCMB yet. Just got the link from RockCity and checked this out. The arbitrary morality rules had got quite annoying over there though. Got banned for a few days for saying that Doritos Locos Tacos were fucking delicious meanwhile the post below mine has pics that are damn near soft core porn. The attempts at pretending the place was some kind of family friendly site was just disingenuous and annoying. Kinda reminds me of having to restrain myself from throat punching my manager at Omar's every time he justified a stupid decision by saying we were classy.

I imagine I'll be here more though since most of the posters are here and I only really viewed tRCMB for the occasional good chuckle.

This board looks like it's worth a shot. My main problem with the other site is that a couple of the moderators ban people and lock threads when they get annoyed.

Whether it's Snake's aversion to old threads being bumped or nedgo's personal problem with Sak, the ban hammer comes out every time a mod is upset. I hope this board's moderators are less vindictive and have thicker skin.

Read the charter. The mods can't ban. You need a majority vote for a short ban and 3/4 vote for a permaban. So assholes like Martin or conqueso can't ban you because they don't like you. FWIW I think you guys are somewhat missing the boat on the mods at the old place. I am sure they developed personal grudges and acted on them, but only because they were empowered to do so. I'm not begrudging him, but TB is the one who wrote up all the rules to maintain the spirit of the board he envisioned, and he asked those guys to act in concert with those rules. When you have a rule that states "No Personal Attacks", that can be interpreted pretty liberally (and selectively). I really think he wanted to maintain the spirit of the early EARLY days of the board when there were a couple hundred posters and everyone basically knew each other - the Ms B Greens, the Viks, the Con Demos', hell even Ty was a sweetheart back then. By the early 00s, you had assholes like myself and my buddies trolling the shit out of people, tanner challenging people to fake fights at airports, and gHost going gHostal. It wasn't what he wanted, and as the monster grew, that shit became more commonplace. So he had to crack down, get more mods and ask them to help him crack down. You can't keep a message board that size with a 'family atmosphere' without a bunch of mods and pretty strict enforcement.

That's just not a lot of fun for some people. I don't generally act like a fool on the internet anymore, but for those that want to - I say let them. And let the rest of us sit back, watch, ridicule, and make wise ass cracks about it.

I donated before 247 and had a VIP account on 247 for the first few years. However, the amount of ads and popups finally drove me to cancel my subscription. I feel its borderline unethical to expect someone to pay money for a website and then also subject them to obnoxious popups (especially on mobile) everytime they visit the site. Other than RCR, I really haven't missed anything by not paying for the site and no longer feel obligated since its being run by 247 now instead of someone in their spare time. I did genuinely like the spartan writers, but have a hard time supporting a business that I think is poorly run and focused on the wrong things. I plan to still lurk there and participate a little; but its nice to have an alternative.

I still miss the open gameday chats the most on the ol' rcmb.... not sure if there are plans for something similar here, but it was always a cool feature.

To say your group trolled the shit out of people is putting it mildly. But that's what made it fun. However, when you hire a group of mods with personal agendas and allow people like rogue to openly ridicule people and post their private info AFTER you asked them to stop repeatedly it became clear the direction of the board was to allow only one voice. The tea blower voice. The rods abused their power and ruined that board. I'm glad Trevor is making money and will continue for several more years. Good for him. It's the American dream. I don't think his paycheck is tied into the number of registered posters anyway. This will grow and be more of a niche msu board. Trevor's investment is safe and will prosper without us.

Yeah, I agree with a lot of what you said. My point is simply that the message board that you and I (and a lot of others) envisioned and desired was not the same as what the head honcho over there desired. Even back in what you and I consider the good ol' days - he didn't want that shit. Which was totally his right, and I respect that. He built a monster unwittingly, and that monster got out of control because of assholes like you and me. Only we weren't trying to be assholes, we were trying to have fun because we wanted a place where we could talk about MSU, tell someone else they were a fuckstick, and post pics of poop.

In my opinion, there has been a market for an alternative board for a long time. I mean a real long fucking time. But it took this thing getting to critical mass before it happened. I honestly had been exploring some back channels towards making it happen in the past couple of years, but with a 4 year old and a 1 year old I have zero energy or motivation to do much other than get through the current day alive. I am happy that SRC took the ball and ran with it. He is doing a much better job than I ever could have.

But the board software is starting to agitate me. The new board has always been a glitchy, unintuitive mess, but the upgrade basically broke what was already a pretty broken board. We were all spoiled by vBulletin, but we also deserve a board that works.

After being here this week I can't believe how slow that board is. Just loading up the main board over there takes several seconds. This place is much snappier.

He's not even an MSU grad. Am I passionate about MSU sports? Hell yes! I fly up every year for a game or two. I traveled to the Big Ten title game and the Rose Bowl when others like Victory Bell bailed on the Rose Bowl after he learned Bullough was out. To allow a creep like that and McMurphy to stay on that board after I supported it for so many years was the classic stab in the back.
