Who the hell is going to buy checks that cost $120? Who the hell even uses checks anymore? That's crazy. I'm still using checks I got 10 years ago.Death Roe wrote:No shit, man. I wish.
I went online obviously, but I wanted to give them a chance, especially since my banking rep said she ordered me some two weeks ago and they never showed up.
Turns out she never ordered them. Awesome.

Yes, $120.
One-hundred-and-twenty dollars.
I confirmed this with her three times over the phone, and just said thanks and hung up. No fucking way.
F'in A. I literally write 12 checks a year. The last time I bought checks was when I moved in 2013. I'm probably still good until 2021.
Get 'em through Bradford Exchange or Check's Unlimited. Much cheaper.

I've got to be close to this.....I might write 2 a month, it takes a looooooong time to go through a box anymore. Not like when you sat down to pay bills and wrote 20 and paid babysitters, cashed them for spending $$ etc.

My guess is that's the point. They don't want to work with paper, and this is a way to discourage the activity. They probably also order a wee percentage of what they used to, so their own costs are up, thus raising prices to the account holder. Of course it still shouldn't be anything close to $120, so it's probably best to see the first part of my response and ignore the rest. Kthxbai.

Makes me feel bad for folks, especially the really old, who don't trust online banking, don't understand it, or don't have a computer or online access. Your bank is taking advantage of them.

Re: Random Ramblings
I take supplements. Vitamins, minerals, amino acids, etc. Not every day but a few times a week. Bought a bottle of turmeric extract pills. High in curcumin which supposedly has many proven health benefits. Took one this morning. Fucked me up so bad I had to leave work. Dizziness, vomiting, diarrhea. Still feel lightheaded and gut is rumbling.
Looked up side effects of the stuff little while ago:
"grams" they state is a typo and should be milligrams. Stuff I have is 900 mg. Bottle says to take it "preferably with a meal". A lot of supplements say that but I've never had a problem taking them on an empty stomach. Big mistake this time. Not sure I'll try this shit again.

If raw milk was easily available in Michigan I'd be taking fewer supplements.Rocinante wrote:The Pantry wrote:I take supplements. I was thinking about this earlier. Is there anything more frustrating/annoying than having to cross a parking lot while driving directly in front of a grocery store?

I have a plan for our Kroger in Little Iraq. I am in and out like a superstar. Just drive along the back causeway to the far South end of the parking lot, park anywhere over there and exit via the same route.
But on the occasions when I have to pass in front of the store? Or when I go to get sushi from the place on 16 and JR and I need to exit and turn left on JR? And I have to cross in front of the Kroger? Holy hell.

Just went to weather.com and looked at the moving radar map of the current Detroit area thunderstorm. If you zoom out to include the Houston area it appears much of the rain in the country is moving with Harvey's rotation.

I just got an amber alert like warning on my phone about a flash flood. Doesn't seem warranted to me.

I think I've gotten an inch in the last 10 minutes. Far different conditions from the time of my first post scoffing about the flood warning.
