Re: Coronavirus?? We gone?
I've got to say, just about everyone I know did much smaller Thanksgivings. Even those I know who bitch about masks/social distancing did it. I'm pretty proud of them. I know not everyone will, but seeing people do the right thing for others gave me hope.

Got a company-wide email from the CEO this morning saying two co-workers tested positive, one from the shop and one in the 1st floor offices.
He sent another email after lunch saying a second person on the 1st floor had tested positive. As a result they are having all that can work from home do so until at least Dec 14. They are bringing in a crew to "deep clean" (whatever that means) the office space this weekend.
There are usually 80 people in the office on any given day, 60+ on the 1st floor. Won't be surprised if more people test positive. Fortunately for me, I spend very little time on the 1st floor.

It's weird. The first email made it sound like the two afflicted had contracted COVID on the weekend before Thanksgiving and over the Thanksgiving holiday...neither of them in the building since. The second email seemed to sorta contradict the first.

Went and got tested the other day, just because. They had free testing in Dewitt so the wife dragged me down there since we had sons and daughter in laws over on Thanksgiving (a total of 9 people). Test result was a negative. Wife hasn't got hers back yet. I think she screwed up her email address so we may never get her results unless it's positive, which I doubt.

DeWitt? You might not have Covid, but you most certainly came away with something horrible.

Your employer sounds dumb to not send you back home to work for a while. I wonder how much it costs to deep clean buildings like that. My FILs work had that done a little while ago. I would think it would be incredibly expensive.

CEO sent another email this afternoon saying they decided to "disinfect the entire building". Not sure how that works. The office floors total almost 30,000 square feet. The shop area is around 160,000 sq-ft.

I can chime in on the "disinfect the entire building bit..." We have been asked to do the same a few times as a "pivot" for what we do on some of our private jets. yada yada yada....We have no idea if it does anything.

Virus goes away on most hard surfaces after 4 days. Many things after hours.
A long weekend would "disinfect" the office.

I wondered that as well.
And I wonder about those air purifiers. I heard a lot of dentist offices getting those installed after the first shutdown. I would think that would be better to have overall to protect people. If I works catching the virus

The air purifiers I would guess are garbage...We have one, one client out of all of them that has plugged one into their private jet to use on top of the built in air circulation(they also have us disinfect the entire interior every-time they fly). It sits there between the seats plugged in like an air conditioner, I am sure it is a nice unit but no idea if it actually does anything.

I thought the UV lights in the air circulation system did kill the viruses and shit...

Oh, and saying you prefer Dewitt to Holt is like debating between an emergency dental procedure and getting stabbed with a rusty fork.

Well on the plus side, Dewitt doesn't have a Quality Dairy, which helps keep the crime rate low, at least north of I-69. South of I-69 is a different story. The locals don't really count that part of Dewitt as being a part of Dewitt.

Went to work for a bit this morning to look at some equipment on our floor. Asked the plant manager about the disinfection process. Said a crew came in Saturday and went around spraying/fogging some chemical solution up in the air. He didn't know what was in it but was assured it wouldn't harm metal or other surfaces. Plant didn't smell any different this morning. The Pantry wrote:I am home for at least another week.Dendrobates wrote:

So it’s disinfected. When one of your coworkers walks in all Covided up will it stay disinfected? I also thought we were told surfaces shouldn’t worry us too much. I think your company is just fucking with you

Last I knew, Linda also had Sweetie-licious filling pie orders for Williams-Sonoma. I don’t know if that’s still true or not, but that alone says her work was very highly regarded. But yeah, too expensive, IMO.

I’d hate to be the patient in the chair right next to the intake side of the air purifier.
