Man I hadn’t even had the time to watch it yet, but shit. They cancelled altered carbon for the same reasons it seems, and the third season was almost as good as the first. I don’t like Anthony Mackie so season two was not my thing. But they don’t even give these shows a chance to take off. Game of thrones wasn’t a big hit until the second season was well underway. Shows take a while to settle into a groove. Hell the first season of Seinfeld sucked.

Better than us.
Don't look up.
S2 of Witcher
Wheel of time on Amazon prime. Fans of the books seem upset, I didn't read them, was interesting enough.

Wife loves tWitcher. We watched S1 together and I didn't get WTF was going on. And this type of show is usually right up my alley. We're gonna start S2 soon. Gonna give it another shot.

S1 was not linear. Not sure when you might have picked that up, but I had to watch twice. S2 is getting some flak from fanbois, but I didn't read or play the games, so I just watched it. It entertained me, that's all I cared about.Nordic wrote:InTenSity wrote:Better than us.

I will be watching season 2 of Witcher but it better make more temporal sense. It was hard for me to figure out wtf was going on with season 1 and I have been a fan since the first games came out.

BTW, if anyone watches don't look up, can you tell me if the MSU scene was actually on campus. I know that the Michigan scenes weren't in Michigan because the roads were in too good of condition.

Watched it today. Definitely not filmed on campus. It's too bad that they didn't. But it was only a short scene that took place outdoors there, so I can see why they wouldn't have sent everyone there just for that.
Having said that, tons of mentions of MSU, and a couple good shots of MSU swag.
I enjoyed it. Incredible cast. If any don't know, you should be aware going in that it is a satire. Reminds me of Canadian Bacon in that way. I'm sure that pro-Trump folks will bring down the online reviews an awful lot, but it was a good satire on him and the anti-science crowd. And Jonah Hill absolutely nailed a Don Junior-type. You knew he was going to be a tool early on when he scoffs at Michigan State.
I dont mean to talk politics here, and I hope this doesn't devolve to that, but it is a political satire, so it is hard to talk about the movie without mentioning that.

Re: Bump when you find something good to stream from Netflix or Amazon or whatever
Watched it last night with the fam. I'll put the rest in a spoiler, I don't want to ruin it for anyone.
- Spoiler:
***Full disclosure. Not a fan of satire. I'm not a 'beat around the bush' kinda guy. Just come right out and say it. Or make me laugh. One of the other.***
Full review....
It was alright. I know I'm supposed to like it. But I didn't really.
Jonah Hill and Kate Blanchett were awesome. Jonah stole the show. Brilliant. Tyler Perry was very good to, but limited. The satire on the "news media' was awesome.
The rest of the characters and writing was pretty meh for me. Especially the main characters. DiCaprio was annoying and Lawrrence was just kinda there. I know it was a satire, and not a true comedy, but most of 'jokes' were just not that funny.
I did like the REE reference. I have experience in this feild and know what an issue this could be. Hopefully it opens some eyes.
Overall too long. First half I was bored as fuck. My wife bailed (she does have covid and tired) and I had to.keep the kids engaged. FWIW, they are definitely not conservatives. Second half picked up and was pretty good. Actually enjoyed the 2nd half. Maybe my gummy started kicking in. Cutout a half hour of DiCaprio bumblefucking around in the first hour and I would of enjoyed it more.
Anyway. Enjoy. I'm super scrooged out in general right now. Go Green!

Boba Fett? Boba Fett? Where??
On Disney+, that's where. The first episode of the Book of Boba Fett series dropped today. Takes place shortly after the opening scene in ROTJ, so obviously Boba escaped the belly of the all-powerful Sarlac without being slowly digested over 1000 years (otherwise that would be a pretty crappy show watching him find new meaning of pain and suffering).
Hard to judge after 1 episode. They have created a very high bar with The Mandalorian, but Favreau created this one, too, so it should be decent.

What did you guys think of Kingsmen?

OK, Sisyphus is interesting. Thought it would be more action. Parts dragged on, but done well enough.
Has anyone mentioned Doom squad or whatever on hbomax? Brendan Frasier! C'mon! OK, just started it, but I think I'll like it.

Re: Bump when you find something good to stream from Netflix or Amazon or whatever
The rating on Prime (3.5 stars, I think) kept me away, but then I actually saw that the bad reviews were almost exclusively readers of the books (I haven't read the books), so I gave it a shot. It was worth my time and moved along well. I like most of the older characters, but the younger group is just ok.InTenSity wrote:

Watched the first two episodes of Boba Fett. Fist one was ok, second one felt like I was watching “the last samurai” with Tom Cruise. But it was entertaining.

I did. Fun little time killer. Fans were raving about it, actually were comparing to Thrones. It ain't that, but it's a fun little fantasy series. Feels more on the level of something like The Witcher than Thrones though.

I got Lord Of The Rings vibes, with the 4 young friends from a small peaceful village head out on an adventure, led by a wizard, to try to save the world from evil. I don't mean that as a criticism, though. I figure that if it was too much of a bite, it would have never been a successful book series.

I really liked it. SBC was really good. Changed how I look at him. It was directed by the guy who did the Israeli series, Prisoners Of War, which is what Homeland was based on (mentioned in the opening credits of Homeland). I don't know if that's relevant, but I found it interesting, as Homeland was one of my favorite shows.

Re: Bump when you find something good to stream from Netflix or Amazon or whatever
Kin on AMC+ has been really interesting. It’s about a Dublin crime family, mostly drugs and, IMO, prone to making poor decisions.
Meanwhile, Crime on BritBox was also pretty good, about a Scottish detective searching for the guy who is killing girls while (of course) fighting his own demons. I missed some of the dialogue because a couple of the supporting cast had such thick accents, but in general, it was enjoyable.

Shorey meets Wayne . The opening gin gash scene was the best McMurray scene of the entire series . The entire episode was a gem.
