Re: January 6th committee hearings
It's just a dog and pony show. The only hope is moderate Republicans, conservatives, and the racist insane wing of trump die hards cannibalize themselves or puke all over each other. Possibly Dems squeak out some for of control over the government. I'm Betting all three wings of the anti American crowd fall in line, though.

Trump using a burner phone. No surprise there, although he might want to hope that the callers on the other end were using their burner phones too.
The thing is, if it's a burner phone, it can't be considered privileged or official business and records can be subpoenaed. FU Trump, not so smart.

Re: January 6th committee hearings
Wow, just made a huge mistake and read some of the comments after that story. I can’t begin to wrap my mind around the fact that so many people actually fucking believe it was a set up that police let the protesters in, that the FBI was involved in it. I give Trump credit in that he tapped into the insane element in America, and he really made some hay out of it. But honestly, it frightens me to my core that our country is so fucking stupid. I always joke that I got maybe 20 years left, I’m happy that I won’t have to see what’s going to happen to us. I’m old enough to remember when Russia shouldn’t be trusted and when you broke windows and killed cops at the nations capital it was a bad thing

The call logs only record who was called and how long the call took. Not what they talked about. The NSA & the phone companies keep that data on file for everyone, which is where the Congress is going to obtain it.

It is really interesting. Trump and the Republicans have gone so far past normal behavior that the country really isn't processing what they did and are doing.

There is no "there" there.
Once a decorum of belief in the Constitution and the United States creed are no longer held by most of the population the fall to social Armageddon has to follow. This is the goal of the handful of uber wealthy idiots.

So, what's Trump's overall record in courts of law since November 3, 2020 at this point? 1-87 or so?
(I made up that number. He was at least 1-40something in the challenges immediately following the election, but he's kept up his losing ways since leaving office. I haven't counted what his post-presidency losses are up to now, though).

Re: January 6th committee hearings
Trump has a long history of ignoring judges and filing counter suit but its what portion of American voters want.
Every GOP primary for MI state legislature, Congress along with state wide elections for Sec of State, AG, Governor and US Senate's at least one candidate claiming they've been endorsed by Trump and others are still seeking Trump's endorsement.
Only met one face to face so far. I was polite and said I only had two questions;
Why Trump's 2016 win in MI was 10,704 votes with over 4.5M vote cast shouldn't be question but Biden's 2020 win with 154,188 votes with 5.45M votes cast isn't legitimate.
If you win in the primary and general elections will those results be legitimate?
Never got an answer but a programmed voter fraud response.

No surprise that they are playing a part instead of have probity to the truth. It is what politicians, mostly Republicans, do.
I once thought there were two parties with reasonable probity each, however Gingrich's antics in 1994 disabused me of that nativity, and I have voted straight Democratic ever since, not that the Democratic Party is full of angels, they are just better that the other choice.
edit - there are Republicans we can point to who are more honest, however, once in Congress, Party Trumps personal probity, so voting is a team sport and I know which team is better.

I told him that Republicans literally want to end democracy while Democrats want to make sure people have equity within the democracy itself. He didn't like that answer which confirmed my suspicion about his true intentions.

I disagree, Bob, but not specifically:
There are a number of people who seem to believe that they should get what they want if they elect someone, however government by popular vote has never worked that way. Self-government is controlled corruption and always has been.
Thus, anyone who wants an excuse for not voting themselves, or is corruptly trying to convince others not to vote so their side might win, certainly is right that both sides are corrupt. That is not a weakness in the system, it is the system.
However, all sides, in theory, are supposed to support the system. That is the part which is supposed to be above the fray. Basically the law & the Constitution.
I have seen just as many far-left posters complain about corruption as far-right posters, and both use it as an excuse to try to keep others from voting, which really is their point.
So, you probably have other clues in your specific case, however as a generalization I believe your statement is weak.

This is how I felt pre-2016. Though I wasn't a Republican, and would often not vote for either of the two parties for President (and in house/senate races, tended to vote for the party that did not hold the presidents' office).Robert J Sakimano wrote:had someone tell me the other day "both sides are corrupt" and that he's sick Democrats and Republicans.Trapper Gus wrote:

But then a guy comes along that is so vile a human being that I couldn't look my then 10 year old daughter in the eye if I didn't actively oppose a guy that spoke of women and minorities the way he did (I was never going to vote FOR him, but I did have to vote for his closest opponent, not a third party).
That was before he chose the word of a dictator/murderer over his own intel people, tried to bribe an ally (who was at war against the aforementioned dictator/murderer) for political favors by with holding aid, and of course before he made a very real attempt to overthrow Democracy.
Now I'm not a Democrat or a Republican. I'm an anti-Trumpist. Which isn't just about Trump, butlt is about those other politicians that have bought into Trumpism, and supported (and continue to support) his anti-Democratic claims/efforts to overturn a free and fair election. In other words, seditionists.

His family should seek to get him declared incompetent before trial and use his own statement that only a living former recent president can enforce laws.
