Re: tOfficial Pizza Thread
I got Pizza Hut a few times lately. They had a 50% off deal. The stuffed crust was pretty good. I'm not picky

Used the LC app to order an ExtraMostBestest stuffed crust on the way home. Looks like a lot of locations have the Pizza Portal now.

Crust isn't great but the cheese, sauce, and pepperoni are decent.

Typical Sunday evening. Started online orders at a few pizza places for delivery but couldn't decide on one for a while. Ended up ordering Jets...large deep dish Super Special with extra cheese and garlic crust

Next time you think you need LC just text or PM me and if I'm not shuttling to school or activities I will deliver you a better pizza, I will even pay the difference.
I am working on a Detroit style right now. I'm not sure how it will turn out but I intend to find out tonight.

11:43, 31 minutes past Hatch’s brag post, and still no pizza. Even Dominos does better.

It was pretty good. I might have cooked it a tad long, the crust was a bit too carmelized but I felt like some of the dough just under the toppings wasn't cooked enough. Not sure. I made the dough. Followed the serious eats Detroit style recipe.

couple times I made pizza I would slightly pre-cook the dough before adding any toppings to get a more even cook

"Hard-Anodized"...meaning it's aluminum. Threw out all my aluminum cookware years ago, even shit I kept in the camper.WhiteBoyHatcher wrote:https://www.amazon.com/LloydPans-Kitchenware-Detroit-Pre-Seasoned-Resistant/dp/B01FY5PHIK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1526952389&sr=8-1&keywords=detroit+style+pizza+pans&dpID=313RjhSNbxL&preST=_SX300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch
I'll stick with round pizza stones. Perfect for making pizza or re-heating leftover.

Better pic from last night. Not sure why I didn't use this one. I will try this again. The sauce was a bit off...the vintage Detroit style sauces (Buddy's, Loui's etc) are a bit sweeter.

IIRC, it’s been linked to breast cancer and dementia, but I’d have to look it up to jog my memory.

You made that? Looks like a good pie. Read both of your links too. Fascinating shit. Was in Brooklyn 2 weeks ago and had a slice at my favorite spot. Nothing like going to a big American city and finding a classic pizzeria. Next time I’m in Detroit I’m going to try to seek one out.

Re: tOfficial Pizza Thread
I would assume that Jets, etc would use a steel pan, not aluminum. Generally cheaper and much more durable in a commercial environment (where keeping it seasoned is no concern) than hard anodized aluminum. The Pantry wrote:Thanks for sharing. You can buy the steel version of the pan.

You can also buy a steel pan at the link WBH posted (seasoned or unseasoned)

Re: tOfficial Pizza Thread
Decided to give Hungry Howies one last try. Ordered their supreme, or whatever they call it, with extra cheese for delivery Saturday.
This is what it looked like when I opened the box
Not only a mess, but lousy crust and very sparse toppings. Don't think there were even 12 slices of pepperoni or much of anything else on the large. They had some online deal for cheese bread so got one of those too. Didn't touch it so took it into work today for others to "enjoy". With tax, delivery, and tip the total was over $35...complete rip off. Thought about calling to complain but decided I'm done with them.
Never again, for sure this time.
