I don't doubt her story for minute, probably any Olympian was or any Olympic tryout.   And I know money doesn't solve the problems they may have because of the molestation you might as well jump in and take it.  It will give them a cushion to recover.

My daughter ran into LAKS at Starbucks on Sunday. Made me wonder if any random citizen, student, etc. has ever walked up to her and confronted her about this tragic, sordid story and the role the Administration did (or didn't) play in it.

An easy target to whip and no surprise that they're getting it. Sort of a damned if they do and damned if they don't. If they go and people confront/protest them then they're guilty of moving the focus off the victims. If they don't go then they story must be that they don't care. I think they should have gone, but I can see why none of them wanted go and get mobbed.

Just on a personal level, if I were Simon, lawsuits be damned, I would step up and say the buck stops with me, I failed to protect you, I did not do my job and I am stepping down. It wouldn't make any of it right but I would feel personally I could have done more.

I understand the statement they put out. Didn't want to distract from the victims, etc. If genuine, that concern makes sense. However I believe the testimony indicated that the concern was misplaced and they did want them present, so yeah I think showing up today was the right move. My hope is that they continue to show up until all of these victims are done with their statements.

If anyone wants to stomach the live stuff.

I'll admit I'm not following as closely as some of you guys are. Just a couple of thoughts. If I'm a lawyer, which I'm not, I think I'd advise my client of not saying a single thing that could open up an individual or entity to a lawsuit. I'm hung up on the fact that the guy was investigated by the police and found to not be doing anything wrong, once or twice. At that point you have two very powerful authority figures coming out and saying that everything is kosher. A Dr is supposed to inspect bodies, they have degrees of internal medicine. They continually have to take classes to stay up to date with the latest medical practices and what not. Plus you have an investigation going on, which doesn't find any wrong doing?
I know being from the midwest everyone is quick to eat their own, but unfortunately I just don't think this is a slam dunk case that a lot of you think it is.
