The left-leaning congresswoman breezed to victory in her first primary as an incumbent on Tuesday, setting the tone for an election night dominated by progressive momentum and centrist setbacks.

With all precincts reporting in her Queens-Bronx district, Ocasio-Cortez trounced her middle-of-the-road challenger, former CNBC anchor Michelle Caruso-Cabrera, by an astonishing 70%-19% margin, according to official State Board of Elections tallies.

In the Bronx, incumbent Eliot Engle (D) NY 16, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, a pro Israel moderate is trailing progressive Jamaal Bowman 36% to 69% with 92% of votes counted.

Ok. I laughed a little.

In most developed countries her views are left leaning, but pretty centrist. It’s just in the United States of skew the power toward lower population more conservative white folks so that she’s considered a leftist. The “center” in this country is so far right that people more right than that are just authoritarian fascists. Often with no qualms about admitting it.

Elissa Slotkin Is Sounding the Alarm. Will Democrats Listen?

Things are getting too close for comfort for some formerly GOP districts considered locks are heating up before primaries.

For example Fred Upton who has been in Congress since 1993, winning the 1992 election is sweating. in 2018 he only won 50% of the vote while the Democratic opponent got 46%. Prior to that Upton had won by margins never lower than 56% and often winning 65% or more of votes cast.

A friend in Kalamazoo is being inundated by emails, voice mails and texts by Upton and his November opponent who is running unopposed in the Aug 5 primary.

I live in MI-10 where Rep. Paul Mitchell has decided after two terms he wants to "spend more time with family". Personally I think it means he's decided that he can't support Trump any longer and is getting out. Meanwhile, the leading two Republican challengers, Lisa McClain and Shane Hernandez, are having a real knock down drag out on TV over who is more Trump Republican than the other. It's pretty disgusting.

Dems don't stand a chance, but one of the challengers, Kimberly Bizon is a Spartan. It's a weird district geographically, Macomb county and all of the thumb.

Primary Day in Michigan.. voted by mail, which means I walked my ballot over to the East Lansing City Hall and dropped it into the election box thingy in the parking lot.

The way that they play around with the timelines in order to create a narrative about Trump's response is comical. "Trump shut down travel from China and from Europe". Yeah, 6 weeks apart, and did absolutely nothing in between to build up our supplies or anything. And, of course, let's remember that he didn't shut down China because he thought the virus was coming, he used that as an excuse to shut it down because he was in trade negotiations with them. In one of the early task force "briefings" he even accidentally let it slip that he was fortunate that he shit it down. But, if course, this is all preaching to the choir.
