I think in certain parts of the country, which candidate can be trumpier will be the winning strategy for the foreseeable. Getting trumps endorsement in those areas will be a huge boon, and people will be willing to pay for it and trump will be more than willing to sell it.

The slow trickle of allegations and indictments that will surround him and his family in the next couple years is the only thing that’s will take the shine off him in some people’s eyes.

If we can purge Trumpism, put in some safeguards, etc., absolutely. But here's where I'm coming from. Presidents' parties almost always lose seats, if not control, in the midterm after they get elected. This is because the opposing party can talk about anything bad that the president did, and that people should elect them in order to check that. By and large, this country votes to balance and check those in power. I'm not saying to do only things that Rs agree with, but Dems should be smart about how they go about it. Having said that, a first priority is to roll back so much of Trump's worst EOs and questionable laws, international relations, etc. I dont think many except the far right will object to that at this point.

The last time the Dems had all 3 they passed Obamacare. Not some shit to consolidate power or reduce taxes on rich people & corporations, but legislation meant to help people get healthcare.

Wow, that is an awful analogy to compare the party on power continuing to win votes of tens of millions of individuals to 2 less powerful nation states ceding power to 1 that is already more powerful.

But apart from the analogy itself, where in the holy fuck did I mention anything about appeasing the Seditionists? The shit people make up to create an argument. Jesus, everything I'm saying is about preventing the Party of Sedition from regaining power in 2 and 4 years, NOT giving them what they want. That is all I care about. Forcing through a progressive agenda isn't going to curb their ability to get in power or to destroy democracy if in power.

I'd advocate a high priority being the Voting Rights Act and other measures to stop voter suppression and make it easier for people to vote. I'd advocate Congress taking power back that they've ceded to the Executive branch over the past 40 years, by creating strong limitations on Executive Orders (after rolling back most of Trump's most egregious ones). I'd advocate re-establishing our international role. I don't know if those are "progressive", except that the Seditionists would be against them. But if the Seditionist Congresspeople want to campaign on being prevented from suppressing votes and about checking a President's unilateral power, good luck to them.

Basically, I'm for anything that limits the Seditionists from gaining power, and, if they do gain power, from abusing it and destroying the free democratic process.

Obama tried to appease the so-called moderate republicans (which don’t exist) with the run up to passing the ACA. It got watered down to shit and they STILL made it their life’s work for 10 years to destroy it. How can anyone not see that appeasement is just cutting yourself off at the knees. Fuck them, pass an infrastructure bill that puts real money into cities, pass comprehensive environmental reform and incentives for green energy that will lead to jobs, pass at the very least, a public option and restore funding for Medicaid expansion in states. Do it early so that the effects are seen and people understand that these are good laws, OR appease the right and watch them slow walk the shit out of everything while badmouthing you on Fox or whatever the new version of fox is and building resentment toward your “socialist” agenda and lose elections to a bunch of idiots who think you’re pedophiles in 2 or 4 years.

Again, no one's talking about appeasement, Roc. If my goal is to destroy the Seditionist Party, that's hardly appeasing them. In general, I do believe in compromise, but at this point, my only thing is not letting the Seditionists regain power. I know that several of you are progressives and want to push through a progressive agenda. If you can do that and marginalize the Seditionists, and have them lose seats, awesome. In recent history that doesnt usually happen. But these are unique times. Either way, I trust Biden to make good calls.
