Kids is an interesting variable. Kids complicate things and might make marriage necessary. I can argue it changes nothing, but it might be good to have a legal framework in place to protect the kids. Although that could be done without formal marriage.

Because women want to get married. It's their way of knowing you're committed to them wholeheartedly. Otherwise they feel like they're just letting you bang them indiscriminately, and you can walk out at any time without repercussion.

I have a cousin who was with this guy for 20 years and he wouldn't marry her. Said he didn't feel it was necessary. She wanted a wedding and children. She finally left him a couple years ago, met somebody else and is getting married this summer. Cool story bro.
